« on: July 20, 2009, 03:12:39 PM »
Hi, any change of a version of VNC to run as root (Yes I am aware running as root is not recommended, thanks anyway)
Help much appreciated

There is a compile time option to VLC to disable the root checking stuff. Compile it yourself and use --enable-run-as-root in your configure options. This is available in all 0.9.3 or later releases.

Hi Johnboy, thanks for reply, I was aware of that and although I have been trying linux for 6 years I have never successfully compiled a program!!! They always go wrong or don't do what they say hence my asking. But I suppose this is PCLinux and so if it will work for me anywhere it will be here 8-)
Cheers
