About KDE Services
« on: July 23, 2009, 02:51:43 AM »
Would anybody explain (or place pointers) about each of "Load-on-Demand" and "Startup" Services in KDE Control Center >> KDE Components >> Service Manager.

Also tell me which services I can disable and how. Especially, I would like to know what the following service do in real world situations.

DNS-SD Services Watcher
KDED Home Base URL Notifier
KDED Remote Base URL Notifier
KDED Systm Base URL Notifier
KDE Write Daemon

PS: I was searching across many forums (including official KDE forum) but could not get any concrete info regarding them.

Oh! Nobody threw any suggestions. However I have removed all the services except:

KDED Media Manager
Media Notifier Daemon

The system is running fine!

PS: I am still looking for docs on KDE Services (in KDE Control Center >> KDE Components >> Service Manager), but still nothing to my avail.

Hoping this puts the post back in the lime light ....
I'm wondering the same things.
What services are needed / what services can be stopped.

I know in M$, stopping services at boot can make the system boot faster.
Is that true of Linux too?

Anyone?
