The "quote" feature in the forums is one of the most used and most useful tools in posting. Here is a simple "how-to" for using it.
1) A quote may be inserted in your post by typing "[" "quote and "]" - as though it were one word beginning and ending with a bracket."
" Type or copy and paste your quoted material and end with "[" "/" "quote" and "]" as though it were one word
as in
(call it "endquote").
2) When wishing to reply to a post with a quote of that post inserted, click on
Quote in the upper right of that post. This will bring up a reply box with the quote in it. You can then type your reply after the "
" (end quote).
If you wish to reply to only a portion of the user's post, you can trim the quoted material by highlighting the part you wish to remove and typing the <
Backspace> key.
3) To insert a quote from someone (person, magazine, etc.), type "[" "quote=name" "]' thus: "
" - without the quotation marks. Insert the quoted material and end with the "endquote" (from method one).
4) To reply to a thread with quoted material from another thread, use method one (above) and insert what you wish to quote using copy and paste.
Alternatively, if you wish to have the info from the forum's quote feature, use method 2 as though you were replying to that post and copy and paste it to the reply you want to use it in. Trim it to the relevant portion and you're good to go.
