i find that "pclos" is the only linux that loads my printer/scanner waithout any problems ,??? would any future updates  effect the normal running of my printer, many thanks

Normally, no. Then again, it's software, so there's no guarantee.

Yet I have seen all package updates from printing be submitted to the testers list before going in the main repos for all. There are a few people testing cups and so each time, on their test installs.

What about joining the testing team yourself, and add a small version to a partition for testing purposes ? :)
