I voted Pastel..  Pastel blue would be my favorite..

I believe that PCLinuxOS 2007 is one of the most elegant and well themed OSes ever put together  (and I'm a big fan of Fedora's artwork)..

From Grub through to desktop you have a consistent polished look..  From word Go it reeks of professionalism..

I'd like to see something close to that, of course with your Phoenix Logo..  ;)

Just my 2 cents..

Thanks again Kori..

To add my share and perhaps help, or ease the decision in relation to the color I would even vote but let me ask what colors the names represent?

Can you add color schemes next to the names in the voting section.

Since pclinuxos kde has been started and maintained in blue I would keep it in blue perhaps adjust or change shades if necessary. Gnome seems fancy and is easy on my eyes  ;) this was good choice.

To keep visual difference between the desktops, even when they can be customized to the same color, I would choose other color then assigned to kde and gnome versions.

Maybe some shade of green, but I would not like to think it is suse family member, then perhaps violet/purple or something closer to red-orange the color in which phoenix is best known. This option of color should push me away from the bright scale, as brights are tiring on eyes, towards darker shades. There is also the option of gold or dark yellow.

The white choice I saw in the screenshots today is a bit  :o empty. Anyway, since the color is needed to be selected for desktop ¨phoenix¨ the colors are already reduced to those which are relevant to phoenix ;D .

So, what are you waiting for? What are the options under the names in the voting sections? I want to vote..  ::)

A link to the designs would be great in order to make an informed decision.
Best regards

I'm with CtrlAltDel. I really enjoyed the 2007 theme and never changed it on any of the computers I installed it on (sounds impressive but it was only 2...). I'm a blue fan but not DARK blue. The background on this message form in the forum is a light, comfortable blue. I feel it would be great for Phoenix.

My only suggestion would be to reduce the size of the Phoenix logo considerably. My feeling is that it currently overpowers everything else on screen (based on the LiveCD version I have). A subtle logo, perhaps replacing the PCLOS logo in the lower left corner would suffice.

Just as an aside, I don't think "reeks" is the right word in CtrlAltDel's message but I agree with what he says. I felt that 2007 was the best of any Linux distro I tried and that's why I kept it on my system until "The Big Update". 2009 was far too dark for my liking and I have (blush) strayed but am obviously looking to return with either Phoenix or KDE4. It'll all depend on how my old laptop performs with the LiveCDs of each.

Voted "pastel" but really doesn't matter to me, I will change it in a week  ;D

Blue is too much like the original PCLOS, but use whatever you like as long as you don't use the Hanna Montana Theme  :D
I shall pass this way but once;
any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show
let me not defer nor neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

I'ld like to see a pastel colour in the vein of the paper background wallpaper in Gnome, or an earthy/natural feel. Seems to me not many use such a theme (can't think of any such distro right now) and it feels light and relaxing, like room to breathe.
I also always liked the colour schemes Zenwalk is using and the air balloon scheme in fedora (was it 8?).

Hope this helps.
