Script failure led to step 1b. Installed java 1.6 (PCLOS 6-11 comes with java 1.5) and the script worked perfect. Go figure. I registered on the forum just to post this. Good luck all.

you know, this error was coded on purpose to make you register here, it will no longer happen with 3.4.3-4  ;)

PS: the PCLinuxOS 2011-06 iso does not include Java 1.5.

lomanager 3.4.4 will be out as soon as LibreOffice 3.4.4 is out officially: on November 9.

For the impatient, and since LO has always released their latest RC-candidate as final: The LO-OfflineInstallers (Option 1b here) are already updated to 3.4.4 and available on my dropbox.

Change:
- OffLineInstallers: added check for Java and system-architecture (32/64-bit)
- improved lomanager 64-bit compatibility

best,
-p.

Thanks Pinoc. Every thing worked perfect. You are the daddy of lomanager  ;D.
Running PCLinuxOS on my USB. PCLinuxOS went bang on me. I have X-u-b-u-n-t-u on my laptop for now. Will give PCLinuxOS a try in the feature.

yeah, but daddy made mistakes :-\
only from this version onwards the lomanager version checker works. Well, nothing is perfect, but I could port this fix into the upcoming addlocale 4.1...

debugging LibreOffice

Debugging LibreOffice has just been made easier for developers. After you have made a developer installation with

     make dev-install

you can (on Linux only for now) run:

     make debugrun

which will start you freshly build LibreOffice, while keeping an eye on it with gdb.

Performance improvement in opening ODS documents

I have great news to share with you. Calc’s ODS import filter in 3.5 should be substantially faster when you have documents with a large number of named ranges. Read on if you want to know more details.

Well, I've discovered an issue in LO Manager:

If I freshly install PCLOS (KDE), fully update the system and run LOM, it will install Java + LO + Langpack (ger) + Help (ger) without any problems at all.

But if I add do a fresh install, system-update, run addlocale before LOM,  add the german locale, then it won't work. It will download and install Java, then fail and tell me to use the 1b Offline-Installer.

This is reproducible whenever I want. Would you have a look at that, pinoc?

Regards, renewit

Hi renewit,

just did this:
- removed LO and Java from my KDE-install
- run addlocale and changed to German, reboot
- run lomanager on the German system and add LO-German and that works just fine.

to figure out your problem I need more details:
a) which KDE-iso did you install; 2011.09? full or mini?
b) did you install anything else on top of the base install, if so what? (shouldn't matter though)
c) did you do a full update?
d) after adding German via addlocale on the fully updated system, did you reboot (you should be forced to do that)?
e) so the error happened when you run lomanager on a fully updated German-localized KDE-install, and you tried to install LibreOffice German, is that correct? That worked fine on my system so I need to replicate your setup to understand what issues you might have with lomanager.

regards,
-pinoc

ok, another update:
- installed KDE 2011.09
- updated
- addlocale to German, reboot
- lomanager and added german version of LO: installed Java, then downloaded 4 LO-packs, installed them, done.

What probably happened on your system is the following:
when the download speed is very slow (i.e. if the download takes longer then 10 minutes) it can happen that the download progress window will disappear and lomanager seems to have crashed because nothing seems to happen. BUT the download continues in the background and lomanager will continue normally. You just need to wait and then the next windows will appear.
Since everything worked fine I did not get the note of the Offline-Installer, no idea why this should popup because all worked as expected.

Please try again, or if it still fails use the offline-installer.
good luck,
-p.

Strange:

This time I manually reloaded the pkgs-list in Synaptic, ran LO and... .... .... .... it works! Without any problems! It seems the script had got some problems at reloading... ah, I don't care. It works, and that is the only important thing!
