hi, pinoc
are you can add the another mirror?
such as "http://www.mirror.in.th/osarchive/pclinuxos/openoffice/apt/ pclinuxos/2009 openoffice"

thanks

Hi tanara,

try this:
- as root open the file /usr/bin/getopenoffice
- go to line 435 and replace  "http://ftp.nl.freebsd.org/pub/os/Linux/distr/texstar/openoffice/apt/" with "http://www.mirror.in.th/osarchive/pclinuxos/openoffice/apt/"
- save the file and run getopenoffice, it will still say to test freebsd but will use the thai mirror later on

hope this helps,
-p.

if the Thai mirror doesn't respond, please try to change the ""www.mirror.in.th"" part with 61.7.253.242.
I do have this problem, using synaptic.
( it has to do with the DNS )

OK, I didn't read the fine print...and removed folder .ooo3 in root, because I found it there. Is there a way to reconstitute this folder? I did try removing and reinstalling per the instructions above. I did then remove .ooo3 in my user folders. For some reason, OpenOffice would not open in normal use, or in any mode for that matter.   Ideas? Thx.

Pinoc, thanks for the idea. I have been waiting for hours to just download a 3.3 MB file from nluug. now changing the repo side i have done it!
Won't you guys ever give alternates for this kinda thing? I mean if you have given solution in the GUI itself, it would have been better. Hope you can correct it for the next version of Goo.

l1nux,
Have you rebooted since removing the folder?

Try this:
Remove OOo, reboot and run GOO again. Instructions for removing OOo can be found in this thread.

I have posted this elsewhere in the forum earlier, but nobody replied, so I am posting it here again, hoping pinoc would see it.

I had a fresh install of pclos2010-kde and then installed open office via get-open-office.  The problem is, kde-integration does not work in the new install of Open Ofiice, although I have the relevant package(ooobasis3.2-kde-integration) installed. getoo installed the package for gnome integration as well, is this the reason why kde integration does not work ?

Also the fonts in oo applications look different from and poorer than the rest of the os. what should I do get the fonts right ?

Other than these the new oo was installed like a breeze and it works great, faster startup and response.

thanks in advance

Hi asok,

can not duplicate what you describe. Should be fine on a fresh install, maybe your install is corrupt? Other than that I could only recommend to run GOO to completely uninstall OO and then again to do a fresh install of OO, and of course not fiddling with the default system fonts...

Dumb question:  should executing the GOO script remove the "GetOpenOffice" menu entry/package?  I successfully got OO and that choice still shows up in the menu.  I guess I could get rid of it by unchecking it in Synaptic too.

Should the need arise, GOO can be used to remove OOo.
That said, if you want to remove GOO, it is as easy as choosing it for removal in Synaptic.

On my eeepc, GOO states that I have insufficient file space, even though I have /var/apt/cache mapped to my ~/home partition.  I have 700Mb of space availabe, so OOo should be able to install correctly.  Is there a way to trick GOO into still permitting the download?

TIA,

mikkl
