Updated to 3.2, and now I get "General Error" when I open a document.  I have to dismiss the window and then the document will open.

Anyone else see this?

I'm still on KDE3.5.10, and yes I know that I'm on my own here, but just wondering if anyone else has this "problem"

I am attempting to save a spreadsheet as .xls and receiving an "internal import error".  This has been reported on the OOo bug files and the status is still unconfirmed.  I receive the same error when trying to load an xls.

So, the question is now, how do I revert to the earlier version?

Update--I uninstalled the new version of GOO script, installed via synaptic the older version and it is still installing version 3.2.  I've now got to let the install finish before going to see if I can find the earlier version on the openoffice repository.  I hope Tex did not pull it down.

Update 2--the open office repository does not appear to have the prior version available, so now I'm stuck unable to complete my work today because I do not have a working version of OOo.  Bother...

Off to see if I can find the older version direct from Go-OO.

hi wayne1932 and mikki,

when you updated to the new OO-version 3.2 your previous configuration settings from 3.1.1 were kept. Unless the "internal import error" is a specific bug of 3.2 you could try to use getopenoffice to completely remove your current OO-installation (which will also remove your configuration files) and then install a fresh version of 3.2. This way your old configuration settings from 3.1.1 will not interfere with the new OO-version 3.2.
Hope this helps,
-p.

PS. In the worst case I can provide the previous OO 3.1.1 rpms on my ftp-server when I'm back at work next Friday.

pinoc,

I tried the complete uninstall and reinstall option.  I get the same import errors.  This looks to be a OOo bug.

It's been turned back on with the new version of Go-oo.  The problem I encountered today, however, is that Calc 3.2 does not play well with .xls files so I have had to downgrade to the prior version.

I also checked the OOo bug list and two of us have confirmed this bug.

Since I have some work that has to be completed today, I figured out how to use some information from the Go-oo download location and Kpackage to get version 3.1.1 installed and operating.  I can confirm that .xls files are again working properly.

So, to be clear, this is NOT an GetOpenOffice script problem, it seems to be an OOo bug.

The current GO-OO release 3.2 seems to have issues with loading/saving .doc and .xls files. Please wait with updating from 3.1.1. I'm in touch with the GO-OO team and hope they will have an updated version 3.2 available as soon as possible. I'll keep you posted on any progress. Sorry for the inconvenience,
-p.

a complete uninstall will not remove OO preferences folder in your home directory and the error will still be there when  you reinstall it if the error is triggered by a setting set with the older version. It will be impossible to confirm the error is not due to an old setting used in a new version if you dont check this one out for everbody else since you appear to be the first to hit this bug. Can you renamed OO hidden folder in your home directory, start OO and see if the error is still there?

hi muungwana,
one feature of getopenoffice is that a complete uninstall will remove all configurations for all users. The current issue is a GO-OO 3.2 specific bug which unfortunately can not be simply resolved by removing an old ~/.ooo3 folder. In fact, all works fine with the previous version 3.1.1 and I will try to upload a en-US OO 3.1.1 pclos rpm archive on my dropbox for those who want to go back to the previous OO 3.1.1.
regards,
-p.

I don't think it can be an OOo problem, as I've installed the Official Oracle version of 3.2 into PCLOS2007, 2009/KDE3.5 and KDE4.4.  I've been using them since the day it was released with no problems - all updated satisfactorily too, including picking up macros.  So it's the GO-OO mod that's causing the trouble.

How does one become a hero?  By asking a lot of dumb questions apparently! I have three computers of various ages, the most powerful is a Dell Netbook 10v; each has 2 or 3 versions of PCLOS of various vintages.  Location, St John's, Newfoundland.

Howard,
as stated before, it is not an OO problem but a GO-OO problem, and the GO-OO team is looking into it. I'm currently uploading an archive with GO-OO 3.1.1 en-US to my dropbox. More instructions on restoring OO3.1.1 soon when the upload has finished.

For those having issues with GO-OO 3.2: instructions to reinstall GO-OO 3.1.1 (the en-US version):
1) download the archive "OO311.tar.gz" by clicking on this link and save it to a directory on your computer
(md5sum of OO311.tar.gz: e8020cb439f65c872e2d09aca8bb14bb).
2) run getopenoffice and select to completely uninstall your current version of OpenOffice
3) open a terminal and cd to the folder where you saved the archive OO311.tar.gz.
Extract the archive using the command:
Code: [Select]
tar xfz OO311.tar.gzThen cd to the extracted folder:
Code: [Select]
cd OO311And finally install OO3.1.1:
Code: [Select]
su -c 'apt-get install *.rpm'
hope this helps,
-pinoc

Short update:
feedback from the GO-OO team: a fixed GO-OO version 3.2 is coming out within the next 2 days.
Plus some time for the updates to appear in our OO-repo and then amending getopenoffice => end of this week/beginning next week. So the fix is just a couple of days away  ;)
