Thankyou pinoc, by gui i mean an easy install.exe in the file package, and yes i set the password to root, said bad password , have since reloaded the LOT fresh just to make sure of my sad package download choices, and set passwd to r00t,( zero zero ) also looking for the how to on geting the 'getopenoffice' off the desk again at the moment, running is a good pace for me though couldnt find the right backup files before reload, so down loaded fwbackups to see if i can use that, from the Synaptic fixed thanks again ( 4th time now ive fixed it ) for the fixes, taking time and reloads but im great with that now ( i think anyway ) LOL. ;D

geof,

we don't use OpenOffice but LibreOffice. We don't do install.exe either. Your problem description is pretty unclear and if you can not make it clearer next time we can't help you. As mentioned before, read and follow these steps:

- read and follow the steps here or here
- properly update your system
- start Synaptic and install lomanager
- read the information here and run lomanager

You could have saved you the torrent story ... lomanager does it ALL for you, including download. lomanager cannot handle a installer you predownloaded afaik.. Check your pm.

Hey thanks for telling us all that your password is r00t. A heads up, when you are posting in a public forum it is best not to tell your passwords or your email address. You should also use a better password for security purposes. "r00t" (r zero zero t) is so easy to guess.

lomanager 3.4.0 soon in your repo.
Changelog:
- updated to work with LibreOffice 3.4.0
- updated French lomanager interface translation
- fixed a bug which caused installation failure of some LO-locales

Note: when installing LibreOffice 3.4.0, lomanager will test for and remove the older version LibreOffice 3.3.2. If 3.3.2 is detected you will be warned about its uninstallation and can exit lomanger if you absolutely want to stick with 3.3.2.

Hi pinoc,

Thanks for all this good job !
One question : do you happen to know what the changelog is for 3.4.0 ? It is probably worth switching, no ?

Taken from the Document Foundation blog:

"LibreOffice 3.4.0 offers several new features for Calc, with faster performances and an improved compatibility with Excel spreadsheets, and Pivot Table – the new name of DataPilot – with support for unlimited numbers of fields and named range as data source. The user interface of Writer, Impress and Draw has been improved with many new features, and several cosmetic changes have been applied to the Linux version, with a better text rendering engine and an improved GTK+ theme integration. Code wise, several thousand lines of German comments have been translated into English, and over 5.000 lines of dead code have been removed from Writer, Calc and Impress."
Best regards

Eddie
