I am not having much luck getting the mandriva package to rebuild for pclinuxos; however, the source file for the openoffice plugin can be downloaded from:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/voikko/files/openoffice.org-voikko/3.1.1/openoffice.org-voikko-3.1.1.tar.gz/download

..when unpacked, the readme file contains info needed to create the OXT plugin; when you get to the part of the read me that instructs you to run the SDK setup script open a console in the same directory as the README file and run the command /opt/openoffice.org/basis3.2/sdk/setsdkenv_unix ..then continue on with the directions...  if you are more lucky than me you should be able to get a working plugin that can then be installed into OOo.

EDIT:  the errors I was getting may be due to the fact that the libvoikko and libmalaga need to be updated in our repositories

OK, maybe I could try that. They have promised lots of rain here this weekend so I have nothing better to do anyway. I'll probably make SDHC card install of PCLinuxOS and test those things on it. That way I won't screw up my well working system.

I'm sorry. I had to give up. I managed to extract this file:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/voikko/files/openoffice.org-voikko/3.1.1/openoffice.org-voikko-3.1.1.tar.gz/download, but those instructions in README file were far beyond my knowledge.

I also tried to install this .rpm package:
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/idpl/13556390/dir/mandrake_other/com/voikko-fi-1.5-1mdv2010.1.i586.rpm.html, but I couldn't download needed dependencies because that download site always gave me this error: "Not enough search parameters. I'm using defaults.
Maybe this error has occured becouse database server has high load. Please consider DONATE PBONE . It is chance to reduce load and receive proper query results.
Error. Lost database connection. Try again (CTRL+R or ALT+R), if problem doesn't disappear mail to Grzegorza Paszka about this situation
."

Any other suggestions how to continue from this?

I think I've got everything built that is needed for this to work on PCLinuxOS (including updated lib's).  Once you have your test install setup, try installing my packages using the following command (copy & paste the whole thing into a root console):

Code: [Select]
apt-get install \
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2425248/voikko/libvoikko1-3.0-1pclos2010.i586.rpm \
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2425248/voikko/libvoikko-devel-3.0-1pclos2010.i586.rpm \
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2425248/voikko/voikko-fi-1.6-1pclos2010.i586.rpm \
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2425248/voikko/openoffice.org-voikko-3.1-3pclos2010.i586.rpm \
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2425248/voikko/voikko-tools-3.0-1pclos2010.i586.rpm

..let me know how it goes;  if it works I will submit them to tex to be included in the official repo.  ;)

I'm not sure how much this will tell you, because part of is in Finnish. But it seems there are some dependencies which are not installable.  ???

Maybe it is not getting all dependencies...  I will test from a clean install and see what I can figure out (I must have installed something manually that you don't have)

Ok. I go to sleep now. It's 11 p.m her in Finland and I've had a very tiresome day. Let me know if you'll find out what those missing dependencies are. And thanks for all of your efforts so far. I really appreciate it.

I think I found them..   a new version has been uploaded.  When you wake, try the following command:

Code: [Select]
apt-get install \
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2425248/voikko/libvoikko1-3.0-1pclos2010.i586.rpm \
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2425248/voikko/libvoikko-devel-3.0-1pclos2010.i586.rpm \

I woke up like a little kid on Christmas Day morning to see what presents Santa has brought this time ;)
Now there were no errors and all packages installed like they should be. But still no joy.
Everything is just as before. I really can't understand this. Especially when Voikko works so well in Abiword. Could it be that there's still some Voikko package which needs updating? When I checked in Synaptic what packages are installed I noticed that there is tmispell-voikko which version number is still 0.7-1pclos2007.
Or is it that OpenOffice itself is missing something what makes it work with Voikko? As I have already said, with Abiword there's no problems.

Have you tried this:

Quote
Usually Voikko is automatically activated after the installation. If
that won't happen, you can manually activate it from the Writing
Aids section of the OpenOffice.org options.

 ???

EDIT:
..tmispell-voikko only has a minor update available; here is the update if you would like to try it:
Code: [Select]
apt-get install http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2425248/voikko/tmispell-voikko-0.7.1-1pclos2010.i586.rpm

All right, I installed also that last update. No effect...
How do you manually activate Voikko from the Writing Aids section of the OpenOffice.org options? Should Voikko be in "available language modules" or in "my dictionaries"?

Perhaps both? ???
