I agree JohnBoy..

I was reading this thinking the same thing..

Why not just have aumix -v 30 in the script alone..

Maybe that's just too simple?

Yes I agree Aumix -v 30 would be simpler.

But on the other hand I found this a good way to start learning the intricacies of bash.

It was a solution to a problem I was having. I brought it to the forums in hopes that somebody else would find it useful. Your not required to use it in the form that I presented it. If you want to have your sound set to one level every time you log in then by all means, alter the script.
That's the lovely thing about linux.
