HIDD and Bluetooth

I'm using a usb keyboard and mouse which loads fine on boot up. However, after that when hidd / bluetooth starts to load there's an error message that the device is already busy. As I have no bluetooth devices, this is not a real problem for me. I can disable it.
Until the last couple of days I had paid little attention to this, but there have been other reports now, and I thought maybe it was time to find out more.

Exactly why the HIDD error comes up with usb keyboard and mouse in use, I've been unable to determine. Removing HIDD and / or Bluetooth from the start on boot in system services stops the error, but for those who have and use both bluetooth and usb keyboard & mouse combo this would probably not work too well.

I'm investigating this issue as best I can, but I'm in new territory with it. Any help with this from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

Here's an interesting thought that came to mind,are we having anyone who wants to use bluetooth and has a USB keyboard and mouse that is either able to use the bluetooth or are having bluetooth issues?

So if you have working bluetooth do you also have USB keyboard and mouse?

I have experienced a couple of interesting bluetooth issues - I'm trying to get my windows6.1 mobile phone to sync with whatever pim-program available - so I have rebuilt 10+ packages about bluetooth/synce, but are stuck right now,

My findings is that Bluez - bluetooth - is versioned as 4.xx in Synaptic, but is in fact 3.xx
The application synce-kpm is displaying version 0.12, even if I have updated it to 0.13 (on my local system) - and it fails every attempt to connect to my phone, even if it is found by odccm (which I have built also)

The program Blueman is absolutly stunning in recognizing bluetooth devices, I've built this also - but I'm stuck right now,

If you would like to test the fresh bluetooth rpm's on your issue I will find a place to upload them (the entire Bluez),

I have no bluetooth devices to test on. My concern in this is that it may be something that will affect other PCLOS users.

Martin, do you use a usb keyboard and mouse? If so, have you seen the HIDD message during boot up?

I've got an old win mobile 5 device that I used to test the synce packages I sent up to the repos not too long ago (sync'd via USB) ..and just recently purchased a USB bluetooth dongle and headset. 

Send me the links and I'll do some testing when I get home later this evening

I'm interested in the usb mice for laptops, got one and will try it tonight for the error. I think the wireless mouse and board I have on the livingroom box didn't show the error, but don't think it has bluetooth capability,so no errors.


Just a thought as to whether bluetooth can just be enabled at will or not. HIDD is a service if I'm not mistaken,but is bluetooth? Is there a exec script in bin or sbin for these? If there is could we just create a exec link to an icon in the tray so that bluetooth can easily be enabled after bootup?

Just throwin some ideas out there.

..but I can also take look for the error without the new ones, as I do use a USB keyboard / mouse combo.  Where in the boot process should I see the error?  I assume I just need to plug in the USB dongle before boot? (The blue-tooth dongle is still in the package at the moment; I've never used it, but it is widely reported as being linux compatible)

An appearently satisfied WM6 user PM'd me the following how-to for using the current synce packages with WM6 via USB:

Success!!  
1. unchecked advanced networking on phone (on the mobile phone go to Start, settings, connections, USB to PC).
2. after creating partnership in synce-KPM,  quit synce-KPM before using kitchen sync
3. open kitchen sync, and create group adding member "plug-in to sync WM5 and later" 'ok'
4. configure and add "plugin for KDE desktop" 'ok'
5.'ctrl'+'esc' check to be sure only one instance of synce-engine is running!!
6. Be sure 'Kontact' is not running (or any other part of 'KDE-PIM')
7. Synchronize using 'Kitchen sync'
8. Open 'Kontact'

I'm not so sure that the issue is to do with  a conflict usb keyboards and mouse and bluetooth. I was getting the HIDD error with no USB devices attached (using a PS2 keyboard and mouse). Since I'm not using bluetooth on this PC, I just turned the service off and didn't investigate it any further, but I thought I might share this just in case people might be barking up the wrong tree.

I've been continuing to dig into this and had come to the conclusion that it might be the HDD. My box uses the newer usb style connection for HDDs. I'm just shooting in the dark here. I could be missing some other something that is causing the error. That is why I asked for help.

I agree with Neal, we need users who in "verbose" see the HIDD error so we can compare notes. I don't get the error so I'm only trying to make logical guesses where to look.
