I have been using aplay as a preferred audio CLi player etc so just to show that the problem is not player based I tried mplayer with the following results ......
$ mplayer -ao alsa:device=btheadset ~/Desktop/hehe.wav

The earpiece just does not seem to respond to any input ....... bummer!
The very same output is generated if the Earpiece is not paired at all!!!
