Pffft
I have it.

when I am in english locale, and use addlocale manager
again to install the thai locale I get the following

http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,55229.0.html

The requested operation could not be completed
Unknown Host

Details of the Request:
URL: http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,55229.0.html
Protocol: http
Date and Time: Sunday, April 15, 2012 05:39 PM
Additional Information: www.pclinuxos.com
Description:
An unknown host error indicates that the server with the requested name, www.pclinuxos.com, could not be located on the Internet.
Possible Causes:
The name that you typed, www.pclinuxos.com, may not exist: it may be incorrectly typed.
There may have been a problem with your network connection.
There may have been a problem with your network configuration. If you have been accessing the Internet with no problems recently, this is unlikely.
Possible Solutions:
Check your network connection status.
Contact your appropriate computer support system, whether the system administrator, or technical support group for further assistance.

that's it.

now, if my slightly confused brain surves me right, I seem to remember when i was dabbling around in the 32 bit version, that this was a firefox window popping up ( not Konq window)....................me thinks   :)

I also remember that in that window I was offered an option to download a firefox language pack, which didn't happen now in the 64 bit version

and my connection is fine, as i am typing this from the 64bit lappie

Edit:
When I close the Konqueror window , addlocale carries on installing ( bread and bacon message )....etc etc

no idea why you get this message, looks all correct to me. Anyway, this would just open a window to read about addlocale during the installation, just info to give the user something to read while the installation continues in the background.

If you use the latest addlocale then you will not get a firefox window popping up because Firefox was removed from the list of browsers which can be launched with user-privs from a root script. FF-locales for Thai are automatically added for 32/64, the user is never asked for any choice. However, upon first start after a new FF or TB locale was added the user is asked to allow the installation of that locale, if it was not installed already.

Pinoc I have a question
I have this
Code: [Select]
Downloading required language packages..
This process can take several minutes!
-> time for coffee a  bacon sandwich!, or read about addlocale.
One done this window will close and addlocale will continue.

Quote
Failure to retrieve some language packages.
(more details: /tmp/AL_STEP1.list).

AL_STEP1.list
Code: [Select]
coreutils-doc enca glib-gettextize glibc-i18ndata intltool libgdata-i18n perl-Text-CharWidth perl-Text-WrapI18N php-translit
locales-pl kde4-l10n-pl docbook-style-xsl docbook-dtd412-xml docbook-dtd42-xml docbook-dtd43-xml docbook-dtd44-xml
docbook-dtd45-xml myspell-pl_PL aspell-manual aspell-pl firefox-pl mozilla-thunderbird-pl gimp-help-pl

Suspect to the guilt of a package or driver.
but how can I find it?

I Possible that the fault of a driver, because this, other people, addlocale working.
One person only had a problem with the driver wi-fi, but I do not have wi-fi.
( I have the updated system KDE 32bit , full ver. 2012 )

Hi tele,

on my KDE32 system, and using the same repo as you, transition to Polish works fine.  According to your post here the download did not complete, because the last line in there should be: Download complete and in download only mode.  But this line is not there, is that correct? Can you please post or PM me the entire content of /tmp/AL_STEP1d.log. addlocale will analyse this file and exit if something is wrong in there, or I am doing something wrong with the analysis of that file, so I need this file to figure out what is wrong.  ;)

if that is all you have in AL_STEP1d.log then your download did not complete successfully, i.e., the download of gimp-help did not succeed, and then there are additional packages which need to be downloaded, in your case for example gimp-help-pl. From the AL_STEP1d.log file you can see that 99,4MB need to be downloaded but when you add up the size of the actually downloaded files you can easily see that this did not work.
Are you sure your Internet connection is stable and working reliably? You can run addlocale from the terminal (konsole) and then look at the final output there before the crash, but that should be identical to the content of AL_STEP1d.log.
You could try to remove gimp and then run addlocale which will result in having to download much less for the transition to Polish.

the download of gimp-help did not succeed
Ok, I removed gimp
The first time I had a problem with the download package keyboard.
The second time, success, addlocale works.    ;D
I have cable, DSL internet 2 MB.

Before I install different. .iso, 2 times.
With the same result. Because I had a problem with some games,
I also tried delete from addlocale
Code: [Select]
# test if all packs were retrieved successfully, we look for "(xxxkb/s)" indicating the
# average download speed for downloading all files, this is language independent
QQ=`cat /tmp/AL_STEP1d.log |grep -c "(*\w*/\w*)"`
if [ $QQ -ne 1 ];then
  kill -9 `ps axo ucmd,pid,ppid | grep $SCRIPT_PID |grep apt-get |awk '{print$2}'`
  $ZEN2 --error --title=$"addlocale step 1: error" --text=$"Failure to retrieve some language packages.\n(more details: /tmp/AL_STEP1.list).\n\nExiting..."
  /bin/rm -f /$AL_EXT2.tar.xz
  /bin/rm -f $XUAL
  exit 0
fi
and and was an error kde
Now checks the game, and install a second time pc-linux, but not usb just cd-rw.

I checked
For example game is this same,  "crack attack" not run in pc-linux KDE , and in zen-linux Gnome ,
environment  to stop, and I can not do nothing, Ctrl + Alt + Delete not working.

The strangest thing is , I installed gimp , gimp-help , gimp-help-pl, where addlocale working and gimp and,  pc-linux working , no error.

I installed new PClinuxOS from new .iso pc-linux KDE, and not usb now but CD-RW and error with addlocale is this same.

Terminal
Code: [Select]
# stdin: is not a tty
/usr/bin/konqueror

Internet connection working

Hi tele,

sorry but I do not quite understand what you men by "crack attack" and zen.
I can just tell you that addlocale works fine for transition to Polish of the latest updated KDE32bit iso.

if you get the same error as mentioned before then this just indicates that your Internet connection has stopped working during the download of the required packages. And as suggested before you can remove Gimp to reduce the needed packages by ~ 50MB. Then add Gimp back later on on the Polish localised system. Any program you install in the Polish localised system will be in Polish if a Polish translation for that application is available.

Yes , working very well. Thank you very much for finding the cause  ;D

"crack attack" this is game, I have problem with some games, the system stops at startup or during the game, I hope that I will find the cause, but I have not found. When it removed the above from the addlocale
QQ=`cat /tmp/AL_STEP1d.log |grep -c "(*\w*/\w*)"` ......
and install language tried open  Blender3D (tool for model 3D ) KDE also crashed.
Now addlocale working, and Blender3D also working.  :-X
zen-linux  , This is almost the same thing pc-linux (PCLinuxOS)
Ok, thanks again, I'm falling

Yes indeed  :D

Still remember I had it to do manually before addlocale .  ;)
Was a lot of work then: looking which rpms (packages)  had mo. files and then reinstalling with synaptic.
