Hi

Here it is

tony@localhost ~]$ curl -I http://distro.ibiblio.org/pclinuxos/addlocale/de.txt
curl: (6) Couldn't resolve host 'distro.ibiblio.org'

[tony@localhost ~]$ su
Password:
[root@localhost ~]# curl -I http://distro.ibiblio.org/pclinuxos/addlocale/de.txt
curl: (6) Couldn't resolve host 'distro.ibiblio.org'
[root@localhost ~]#

Quote
internet setup in Thailand

Additional information.
For connectivity......no problems and no complaints
For speed......no problems and no complaints....except one: Linuxtracker ( the one with all the ISO's) is a permanent problem, as in< fixed-well-written-bug>>
Downloading ISO's.....no problem-----good speed
Using Ktorrent......top speed

Yes, I very vaguely remember having talked about it, but no idea when or why ( swiss cheese )

tony@localhost ~]$ curl -I http://distro.ibiblio.org/pclinuxos/addlocale/de.txt
curl: (6) Couldn't resolve host 'distro.ibiblio.org'

that is what I thought, it is your internet setup and curl has a problem with it, do you use a proxy? If so then how about:
Code: [Select]
curl -p -I http://distro.ibiblio.org/pclinuxos/addlocale/de.txt
or follow step 7 in the original post and then try the above curl command again, and post the output here.
-p.

PS: and how about
Code: [Select]
wget http://distro.ibiblio.org/pclinuxos/addlocale/de.txt?

it is your internet setup

do you use a proxy?

Not that I know of, unless my ISP itself is a massive proxy   ;D.
I do have dynamic IP address. Change every time I reboot.

or follow step 7
If step 7 is on the first page and refers to Firefox and TB, then , there are no locales there.

If by step 7 you mean anything else, please elaborate

Thanks

Xena,

I intend to switch to a different, faster server for downloading the addlocale archives. Can you post your output for
Code: [Select]
curl -p -I http://ftp.vim.org/ibiblio/distributions/pclinuxos/addlocale/de.txt
wget http://ftp.vim.org/ibiblio/distributions/pclinuxos/addlocale/de.txt

that may result in the same problems because I think you have dns-related problem. Do you use opendns? If not try this:

1. Open PCLinuxOS Control Center 'Configure Your Computer'
2. Select 'Network and Internet' -> 'Network Center', open your network connection and click the button 'Configure'
3. Uncheck 'Get DNS servers from DHCP'.
In the box for DNS Server 1 enter: 208.67.222.222
In the box for DNS Server 2 enter: 208.67.220.220
Click on 'OK' at the bottom right to close this dialog window.
4. Back in the Network Center window click on 'Disconnect', wait for it to finish, then click on 'Connect'.
5. Your Internet connection is now configured to use OpenDNS. Close all open PCC-windows.

then try the curl and the wget command from above again and report back the results.
-p.

I am going to do that in about 15 to 20 minutes.

I had been thinking of OpenDNS, but didn't want to use it as it is Slow here

see you just now

shouldn't be slow, but before changing to opendns please report your output for these two (just refined):
Code: [Select]
curl -p -I http://ftp.nluug.nl/ibiblio/distributions/pclinuxos/addlocale/de.txt
wget http://ftp.nluug.nl/ibiblio/distributions/pclinuxos/addlocale/de.txt
thanks!

yep, thanks a lot, exactly what I expected  ::)

addlocale 4.1-4 out shortly with these changes:
- improved browser detection
- removed kdesu and apt upgrade notice
- added translation dialog trigger to appear after localisation for all existing and new users
- switched downloading translation archives from ibiblio to much faster Dutch server

have fun,
-p.

OK, I will wait.

The reason I got to this " Thai locale" is that today:
Hell froze over
The moon changed to blue
Pigs could fly

My wife want to have a laptop with " That XP without virusses "
So, it will be PCLinuxOS with Thai-locale
 ;D     ;D     ;D

BTW  I take it you don't want me to do that other  thing:

1. Open PCLinuxOS Control Center 'Configure Your Computer'
2. Select 'Network and Internet' -> 'Network Center', open your network connection and click the button 'Configure'
3. Uncheck 'Get DNS servers from DHCP'..................................

was too fast, addlocale 4.1-4 has a stupid copy/paste error which prevents the script to start properly.
addlocale 4.1-5 has this fixed and should be in your repo soon. Please do not use 4.1-4, sorry about that.

Before using 4.1-5 please check in /tmp and if exist delete the file called xsuaddlocale.
sorry for the inconvenience,
-p.
