Melodie,
the source of these error messages is bleachbit.

Pinoc,

In the above message I told you I didn't use Bleachbit (this is the third install/third try). I didn't even install it.
Quote
Now I have changed KDE Minime to French, and didn't install Bleachbit yet. I did a remaster

For what Bleachbit in concerned, I have used it many many times since months for cleaning purposes before remastering, and on my everyday's distro in use once a while to keep the system free from unuseful files, and I never met with a problem so far.

The only tool on which I had a doubt last year, and I don't use anymore, is the "rpmorphan" PCLinuxOS tool that was in the 2007 repositories (didn't even look if it has been uploaded to 2010 mirrors... ).

There is something wrong somewhere. It's related to timestamp, not related to Bleachbit.

I'll send you a list for files supposed to be erased by Bleachbit the next time I will start this install. That might be tomorrow because this evening I will not be available for that one.

Regards,
Mélodie

ok, wasn't precise enough.  ;)
yes, you did not use bleachbit but I just wanted to mention that these timestamp errors can be generated when running bleachbit with these settings and that I do not get these time-stamp errors when not using bleachbit. Apparently there is another way to generate these time-stamp errors and let's hope you will find it out.
best,
-p.

Hi,

What is new in this one story is that Addlocale now offers to change the timezone and configure the hour for you. In the experience I had yesterday and I think the day before too, I remembrer now that I noticed at the moment where I got the new timezone and hour configured, the day in the system was one day ahead.

I might retry next with configuring time and date from PCC, and start Addlocale after (that is starting to be quite several experimentations to do on the list... well, I'll come back in a pair of days or maybe next week-end, to tell you how it goes about theses)

Hi,

I'm not sure if this will belong here, I give it a try...

Even once the distro localized to French, any of the tty still have qwerty keyboard. I have a hell of a time login with qwerty config for an azerty keyboard, then type "loqdkeys fr". :)

It used not to happen in the older versions. Any clue ?

no, no clue, nothing has changed in addlocale in this respect. Must be something else?

Hi

This was solved thanks to growbag and blackbird. The fault was the /etc/sysconfig/console/default.kmap file. I followed growbag's suggest and renamed it default.disable.kmap, and that worked.

The strange thing is that in several installs after renaminig it, it was again there later (one boot later ?) and I had then 2 files (well a "mv" is not supposed to copy, so what happened ?). After I erased it, only the "default.disable.kmap" was left, for real that time.

Now I met with a new problem at passing pclinuxos-openbox to french : I tried 8 times, a pair of days ago, and no way. I had the same error messages, but this time instead of downloading the locales and install them, addlocale went directly from the preceeding step to keyboard config : then once the timezone done, declared it was all ok, rebooted, and offered me a gdm without the french choice and a system half in french half in english : menus in french PCC, Synaptic, and many more still in english.

I changed machine as I also have a pclinuxos-openbox install on my laptop, a bit behind so I had to update it too and so on... then I met with exactly the same problem. In the other machine, I had tried twice to change repo, incase... which had not done any effect.

So I decided I would remove the latest package updated, because it seemed to me that it was the only difference with the other versions (kde e17 and so on) which all have a french version now. And this is libaikisaurus-xxx .

(xxx is a number, such as 1_0, but I'm not sure what number now). This uninstalled another lib as well, and Abiword too. Too bad ! Well doesn't matter. :)

Just incase, I again changed the repo: from vim I went to heanet. And this time it worked ! Now I'm being remastering it.

I think I will next reinstall Abiword, and start a second remaster, to see if that comes out ok now. (And it's in french, so what can happen ?)

There is still a doubt in my mind, is the fault to the lib, or to the repo ? Other repos I had tried on the other machine : fluug, and iblio...

addlocale 3.6-3 now also works if the megagames repo is enabled.

soon in PASS and later in the public repos: addlocale 3.6-4 with the following changes:
- fixed addlocale crash due to changes in abiword (french and polish only)
- changed dialog messages OK/Cancel to Yes/No  ::)
- updated all translations

In addition, reprocessed and updated (KDE4.4.5 etc.) addlocale language archives will be uploaded later on.

Both updates should be available within the next days ;)
have fun,

Hi,

Could you check the "Revert to default (en_US)" function ? I met some problems with that recently... it was not possible to get a revert (stated it was ok then after reboot all was still in french, menus and so)

tested 3.6-4 today on fullmonty: converted to french and reverted back to en_US without any issues. Meaning it worked flawlessly on a 13GB installation and for the language having most translations (french).

and if it does not then it must be something related to using a different desktop manager than KDE, because and as you know: Pinoc = KDE   ;D

addlocale 3.7 is out with these changes:
- language archive compression format has changed from bz2 to xz
- language archives now also include packages from the megagames repo

Important:
- you must use version 3.7 to localize your system. Any older version will not work anymore because the compression format has changed.
- if possible, please wait with the localization a day or two to ensure the other mirrors in Thailand and the Netherlands have synched with ibiblio.

announcing addlocale 3.7-2 with this change: added Indonesian language support for KDE4

In addition, addlocale language archives have been re-processed to account for updated translations in KDE4.5.1. Both should be available very soon  ;)
