>pinoc,

when using AL on XFCE, after it finishes, there should be log out/log in, right? But instead it reboots the pc. Any ideas?

Hi coffeetime,

logout/login is sufficient for KDE3 and KDE4. I have not found a way to apply the changes without a reboot on any other non-KDE window manager, so a reboot on XFCE is correct (see also point 3 in Instructions for an installed PCLinuxOS system in the OP).

announcing addlocale 3.0 with these changes:
- updated to work with new toolchain components
- improved sudo launcher
- updated to apply latest repo changes (added KDE4 koffice languages, etc)

The pre-processed language archives which are downloaded by addlocale have been updated as well. They contain all language relevant information of the PCLinuxOS repo and are enriched by the latest Ubuntu translations, both as of October, 14, 2009. As before, addlocale should work with any desktop manager of PCLinuxOS.

have fun,
-p.

Hello everybody!

This is coffeetime's wife. I would like to thank you for this Linux. I'm using kde. Special thanks goes also to pinoc, who made it possible for me to be able to use Linux in my native (german) language. Coffeetime said he just needed couple of clicks and all was done (? ::)?) I would like to write more, but coffeetime doesn't let me :).
Again, thank you!

Pass auf dich auf und hab genau so viel spass wie ich.

Edit: she had to... ;D

And coffeetime, the next time you leave your PC, don't forget to press that blue button at the bottom of the PCmenu... (just kidding  :D :D )

Note: at present  and only for a 2009.2 KDE3 installation (not MiniME KDE3), addlocale only works from a root terminal, it will be fixed asap.

I have KDE4 installation and it only works from the root terminal. It ask's for the root password and then nothing. BTW Thank you for your hard work :)

How long did you wait? On my wife's installation [kde4] I had no problems. Using addlocale-3.0-1pclos2010.

Well, how long it takes to smoke a cigarette (bad habit)? :D

I have exactly the same version. When I start it form the console I get this:

Quote
[root@pclos timo]# addlocale
[root@pclos timo]#
Internet connection working

/var/cache/apt/archives/partial found

and it will start ok.

timot,

I don't understand, does it work, or not, or did it just take a long time for the first window to show up? The latter can happen if your Internet connection was not up yet when you started addlocale. I will add some verbose messages in the next version to make that clearer. In my KDE4 install and as normal user addlocale works just fine. If you have problems, could it be that the base for your current KDE4 install is not MiniME but the 2009.2 KDE3?

-p.
