Our first project, teagtk and teaqt - Finished!
« on: March 11, 2009, 12:20:39 PM »
rpm and src.rpm available here:
http://nbrks.com/Joble/tea/
This is qt4 for kde.  gnome users who are already using tea should upgrade to teagtk, already in the repo.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I took and interest in this request a while back, so, if you're all still here, let's try it:
http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php?topic=52130.0

This is in the repos, so there's already a spec file for it.  I'm hoping it won't be to difficult, but depending on the dependencies, it could very well prove to be impossible.  I guess we'll find out together.

This is going to be slow going for me.  I've got a lot of things going on, but I've always wanted to do this.

A couple things first.

1.  I don't want a rehash of the excellent tutorials, if you cant figure that out, you really shouldn't even be attempting this.

2.  I want this to be, I'm stuck at this part, can anyone help me through it.

3.  I'm hoping at least one of us, will end up with something worthy of the repos....  ;)

4.  I'm not a packager, or a dev, we're learning this together, my advice is no better, or worse than anyone else.

So, I will set up my environment, as outlined in the tutorials, and begin.

Scoundrel, oh, I misunderstood.  You were just informing of the current condition.  Thanks.  ;D

I'll?  I hope you're feeling better soon!

Closing a section completely locks them out? Can't they just be set "read only"? Obviously there is still important and useful information in there that is no longer accessible.

It appears that Joble, as moderator, can see the forum since he linked to it. So how about it, Joe - can you use your new superpowers to open it back up now that the Final is here? ;D

Congrats on the superpowers, BTW - well deserved.

Joble:

I hate to rain on your parade ... but the readme in the tarball says it has dependencies on Qt 4.4. The version of Qt 4.x that's in the PCLinuxOS 2009.1 installation is only Qt 4.3.x. Will it build ok on Qt 4.3.x?

parnote:  You're asking me?  hehe.  Thanks, for that, but I hope someone else can answer it.  Certainly we could try, but I just don't know.  If not, we might be looking for another project.

I will look into the package request issue, but I'm not going to open it, I'm the "new guy".

Now let's try to keep this thread on course.

parnote:  Wow, I went to see if we could update the package, but just not to the latest.  They went from version 17.6.1 to 21.0.0 to 23.0.0, wow.  Which version did that readme come from?

The 2009 release has set me back, as I have to get it installed and get those packages from the tutorial again.

That readme file came from 21.1.1, the one you linked to. All the versions higher than that also depend on Qt 4.4. I didn't check any of the versions prior to 21.1.1.

..seems like I remember seeing something in the old hack forums regarding problems with QT4.4 & KDE4 on pclos, so instead 4.3 was patched??!?  ..I also saw Tex post recently that he was turning his attention to KDE4, so we might see QT updated sooner rather than later..
