Desktop Notifications
« on: March 22, 2013, 04:03:20 PM »
Hi All,  I typically suspend my desktop.  Upon resume, it takes a minute to wake up and reconnect to my network.  I always get a "you don't have a network configured" message, followed by another "no network" message, and finally a "network up" message.

None if this is a mystery, and I'd just as soon not see these notifications.  Being KDE I'm sure I can turn them off...

I've looked in System-Settings Applications and System Notifications Manage Notifications but I can't seem to find the proper notification to turn these messages off.  It seems KDE related, but I could be wrong.

Any ideas?

TIA,

Dave

Seems you have update-notfier installed...
You can start it later, try Update-Notifier Settings...

Yes you are looking in the correct place, but I would not turn these off because they are for your network connection and if you unplug your network cable you should see the same message, so its useful if your router goes down.
You could think about setting the network to Not disconnect when you put it to sleep.

Thanks both daniel and pclinmike,  I don't use Update-Notifier.  This is the Notifications located in my System Tray.  Your suggestions prompted me to pursue modifying it in the tray.  The tray can show Application Status, Communications, System Services, Hardware, and Miscellaneous.  I'll try deselecting each in turn and see what turns off the network messages.

My network stays up when my desktop suspends.  I think when my desktop resumes, it looks for the network before the network card gets it negotiated.  Usually it is a matter of seconds, but I get the unwanted messages.

Thanks for the ideas,

Dave
