In a recent post about the latest version of Bluefish (
http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,114276.0.html ), it was suggested that it would perform better if gtk+2 were replaced by gtk+3.0 3.4.0-1pclos2012.
I am not familiar with the functioning of either of these two packages, but (a) I do use Bluefish quite a lot and (b) my system still uses gtk+2, so I feel in need of advice:
1) How backward-compatible is gtk+3 ? Am I likely to get problems with other existing software if I change?
2) How should I transition?
a. Install gtk+3, then remove gtk+2 (complete removal?)
b. Remove gtk+2 (complete removal?), then install gtk+3
c. Install gtk+3, leaving gtk+2 in place for applications which may still need it?
This sort of decision is a bit above my pay grade, so I will welcome any help!
