Adding Local Weather to LXDE
« on: March 19, 2013, 04:20:30 PM »
I have searched and cannot find this topic addressed in the Forums.  I apologize if I missed the topic.

How do you add the local weather (current conditions, three day forecast, etc.) to the desktop?  I've seen this in some of the monthly screenshots.  I'm new to LXDE.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Alan

Those are probably KDE widgets.   ForecastFox in Firefox isn't bad.

I use LXDE and if you see the monthly screeshots I have a program that put weather (and other things) in screen, I use Rainlendar  altought apparently last versions doesn't work so well.

It runs without installing so it is pretty safe but there is a rule about using programs from outside the repo that you probably know by now. If you want, download the program (free version), if it doesn't work I can share my working version.
I shall pass this way but once;
any good therefore that I can do,
or any kindness that I can show
let me not defer nor neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

Thanks for the link to Rainlendar.  I downloaded "rainlendar2-lite".  How do I run this program without installing it?  Help educate me.

Thanks.

Start screenlets in a terminal, and post messages

Edit:
Let me see your installed python packages
Code: [Select]
rpm -qa | grep python
