updated to the new KDE and now my computer won't work

I upgraded to the new KDE 4.10 and now when my computer starts up it runs a check of everything and then it has me login however it doesn't move past the terminal mode. it won't go to the desktop

enter your username and password at the prompt and then enter startx

If you get and error at that point copy and post it here.

it looks like it's telling me it failed to load the NVIDIA kernel module. and that no device was detected. also it's unable to connect to the x-server

i checked synaptic and i don't have any 173 installed but rather 304. the nouveau seemmed to work though
