Hi David, a big welcome to the forum and the world of PCLinuxOS, lovely to have you with us.

The forum members are very helpful regarding queries you may have.

A couple of suggestions; when you do have any questions, try and give as much detail as you can about the problem i.e. what you've tried so far, any error message that have popped up, and if pertinent, your system specs, especially your graphic/video card and if known the driver being used.

Good luck

Hi and welcome, David!

A great source for knowledge and entertainment is the magazine, and have a look at the knowledge base. Many initial answers can probably be found this way.

Take your time, just get comfortable, and ask away.

Welcome David: a very friendly bunch here, and always ready to help. PCLinux is different from winblows but in a good way. When you learn the Linux way you'll wonder why the other guys do things the way they do.Enjoy your stay and have fun learning, just don't get frustrated and give up.

Hi DLP,
Glad you found us.  Nice to be MS free.  Once you learn your way around(not long) you will have to figure out what to do with all that extra time you spent on viruses, reboots etc..
Allow me to suggest the sandbox.  Lots of fun & games going on there.
Welcome & enjoy, Dan

Welcome home to the best distro, DLP!

We all understand what you said, since we have been there as well.. once you get some of the win ideas out of your head, PCLinuxOS isn't hard to learn.

The friendly people here in the forum can help you with whatever questions you have. Also available are the magazine and the knowledge base, as tschommer has mentioned above.

We're glad you are here!

Welcome! Quite a bunch of happy former Windowes users around here!  You'll find that with Linux you must be proactive---no hand-holding here! Yes, it's hard to stop thinking like a Win-loser, but it can be done over time. And the learning never stops. There are tonnes of helpful people around here who are glad to try to help when you have a problem.  One of the things that absolutely floored me about PCLinux is MyLiveCD: SO easy to do (if you follow the directions properly!!), and you'll get a complete copy of YOUR operating system---not a simple copy of partitions, but your entire PCLinuxOS the way you've customized it, including applications, etc, easily and quickly installable onto another machine or just to keep as an emergency backup. Another great thing: my PCs run as fast after 3 years as the day I first installed Linux on them . . . WITHOUT DEFRAGGING!!  How cool is dat?? Have fun!
