I think it is an excellent choice and I may buy one. Offers all I need.

I keep thinking UEFI and BIOS are mutually exclusive. But it says here:  ASUS UEFI BIOS EZ Mode featuring friendly graphics user interface   So they can be coexistitng??

Yes they can.. I'm running a ASUS P5G41-M-LE and it has both onboard and UEFI listed in the setup and UEFI can be disabled.  :)

from most reports i have read here, like yours wildman, if you buy the mainboard, you can disable the annoying uefi feature and keep enjoying linux, right? that is very encouraging!

a friend has that mainboard, but its is a bit old, no?

very good but at least 1 year old, that means that probably will work perfectly under linux with the current kernel we have so probably a excellent choice

with what are you going to pair it with, a fx 8000 cpu?

what video card? remember to buy a decent psu, at least 450 watts to be comfortable and work stable so you have a pc to use and enjoy for at least 5 years

The company I use to purchase components for my home builds, also sell complete pc systems (winblows only).

They have used this board, and offer a 3 year warranty on their built systems using it.

The company have been around for years (I've been using them since 1999) and they do get good reviews for their systems.

So I doubt they would use a junk board, they don't want returns  ;)

Good to know UEFI can be disabled too.

hope it helps

Pretty fancy looking, can use up to 8 cores...whoa. Truth be told unless you are doing some pretty heavy and intensive "work", a dual core will be all you need, but where's the fun in that as a board like that screams for at least a 4 core. ;D (using a Sempron 145 OC'd to 3.1Ghz myself). also since I don't do gaming or heavy video, onboard graphics works fine for me. Add one of those "new fangled" SSD drives and 4+ gigs of memory and it should almost finish booting before your finger leaves the on button ;) ;D ;D

amazing what they can pack onto a M-ATX these days
Plan to be spontaneous tomorrow.

Note, my board is a few years old, so you might want to ask before you buy..

1200 watt?

what do you plan to do with the 600 watts that won't be used by the system you are planing to put in there?

just pay the power bills?

for most users, a 750 watt psu is a waste, a 1200 watt, well, you only can use that with 4 big video cards

something in the line of a $600 card, each card
