This was on a HP DV6000 with a Go 6150 video. Works if you have problems with other video also.
Ok so tonight I used synaptic to update. Yes I know I should update more often.
Shutdown then tried to reboot. After a half hour did not get past the boot screen. The progress bar was all the way to the right but system was stuck there. Pulled the power and battery tried safe mode. It installed a few things and the Nvidia driver then stopped dead cold. Pulled the power and battery again. Started over again. Was able to get to the command line. Logged in as root and used the pcc command to start PCLinuxOS Control Center. Was able to fix the video card from there.
