Hi all, I get the above error when I try to access my palm cam thru wine.  It looks just like it did when I used it on windows, but when I try to connect to the camera I get the error message.  Any clues?

I have a feeling pclos doesn't enable the serial port by default and there's a package in Synaptic you need to download and configure. I remembering struggling to get a serial mouse going (search the forum to see if that's still there). I succeeded in the end, but can't remember much about it as I don't use the serial mouse any longer.

See http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,80304.msg664038.html#msg664038

You shouldn't need most of this as you're not without a working mouse, but you do need to get the serial port (called /dev/ttyS0 in Linux or COM1 in Windows) going, so the first two lines might set you in the right direction. You might need a different argument for inputattach as you're not trying to install a Microsoft mouse.

Pclos dropped out-of-the-box support for the serial port because the two devices it was most used for (mice and modems) now use USB or PS/2 instead.

ok, I understand all that (kind of) and yes, my mouse works fine...but I did get an adapter for my camera cable that gives it a usb end.  Does this information make a difference?

I'm afraid I don't know enough about the software you're using to know the answer. I don't even know whether using the Windows software using wine is the best approach or even exactly what you are trying to achieve.
