Copying boot usb to partition drive...??

I was wondering if it is possible to copy the "usb boot drive" onto a partition on a hd in-case at 1 point in the distant future i need to re-install an OS and i can't find my usb or want to make and use a partition later to use a diff OS?  If it is possible how would i go about doing that??


(The USB has PClinuxOS, Ubuntu, Puppy, Arch-linux, and Mint) I don't know if it makes a diff which OS i would installing

I am unsure what you mean by this.

You could make an image of the USB drive and store it on a HDD and later 'burn' it to another USB drive.

It is usually easy to put bootable Live distros on a HDD partition and arrange for them to be listed in the boot manager ....  if that is what you mean.

Just not sure exactly what you want to do .......

I'm sure he means something like a recovery partition (like most Windows laptops have) that will be bootable and able to restore the system in case of a failure.

If it is an emergency boot OS that is in mind then that is quite simple to achieve.
A live PCLOS can be placed on any partition (not Swap :D ) and booted from the Grub menu at any time.
This can be done with a remastered PCLOS also which allows for the inclusion of all one might require.
Persistence can be added if required.

A better explanation of what would be expected of the set up would allow for a better determination of the right set up.
