The nvidia304 packages are still in testing, I can't see them in the other sections

It probably came in to the main section just now.
Packaging well will cure headaches of many :) But learning to package will cause headaches in many :(

Never mind, just noticed it's a laptop.  :-[  ;)

I am still not sure if it is a laptop or a desktop. It is posted under the Desktop Hardware but the specifications in the signature are of a laptop.

But there is also this line from the first post
Quote
Changed graphics card (same make and model card) out of a properly working Linux box still have panics.
I doubt we will able to change the graphic card of a laptop.

Just try the Heanet repo now.

Search only for nvidia and see how many dkms-nvidiaxxxx appear.
Mine shows:

dkms-nvidia173
dkms-nvidia304
dkms-nvidia96xx
dkms-nvidia-current

As I stated above, it was not clear for us :(

sling-shot, if you enable the component column in synaptic, what does it show for the dkms-nvidia304 entry?

I can't find those packages in synaptic.

Would this driver be in these packages? :
dkms-nvidia96xx
x11-driver-video-nvidia96xx

You said that you installed 64 bit RC1.  That comes with the nvidia304 packages pre-installed.  Unless you removed them they should be present.
Failing that, in order to install them you will need to enable the "test" section in Synaptic (the packages are not in the stable section yet).
Go into Synaptic->Settings->Repositories
Select your mirror
Add the word "test" to the sections
OK and do a "Reload"
Then search on nvidia304
Remember to disable "test" afterwards (before doing a full update)

It shows blank.

Could it be because this update happened when I might have enabled "test" in the past but had removed it later?

Ah, TerryN's post above explains the mystery :)

I may have removed the drivers but I don't remember doing so  ;D But I have them back! Now to see if I have any more kernel panics  ::)
Oh yeah, I better remove test from the Sections   ;)

Thanks everyone for the super fast help!

It was a pleasure doing business with you :)

You did good by by being clear, being able to follow instructions and giving proper feedback.

If everyone who posts in these forums will be like you, I believe PCLinuxOS will become the leading Desktop OS in no time.
