March Music Thread

"Heavy Metal" is a 1981 Canadian fantasy-animated film directed by Gerald Potterton and produced by Ivan Reitman and Leonard Mogel, who also was the publisher of Heavy Metal magazine, the basis for the film. The screenplay was written by Daniel Goldberg and Len Blum.

The film is an anthology of various science fiction and fantasy stories adapted from Heavy Metal magazine and original stories in the same spirit. Like the magazine, it has a great deal of graphic violence, nudity, and sexuality. Its production was expedited by having several animation houses working simultaneously on different segments, including CinéGroupe and Atkinson Film-Arts.

The sound tract to the film featured such acts as Journey, Cheep Trick, and (believe it or not) Blue Oyster Cult.

One of the biggest "hits" off of the album was by Sammy Hagar, replacement of David Lee Roth in the band Van Halen.

It was called "Heavy Metal" and I will post a follow up with the link to that music but first, I want to point out that there were two tunes on that sound tract with the title "Heavy Metal" and the lesser known of the two tunes was my favorite off of the album.

It was officially called "Takin a Ride(Heavy Metal)" and was recorded by Don Felder (member of the Eagles)

Enjoy!

...And was the last film I ever saw in a commercial movie establishment... the Belford Outdoor Theater... the last of the old fashioned drive in theaters here, demolished shortly thereafter. Cheap Trick, being a local band, is a group I knew and partied with. I even sold Robin Zander the furnace and air conditioning for his home. The first of the group I met was Rick Nielsen, when we were just kids, hanging out at his father's music store. Come to think of it, he's an old fart now too, being only a year younger than me.  Hell, they all are, as Robin, the youngest of the bunch, turned 60 last January.  ;D ;D

I liked the Heavy Metal Film and the music that went with it.
There is a 5th dimension, beyond that which is known to man.It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity, between science& superstition,& it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call PCLINUXOS!
