Are you interested in Enlightenment E17 desktop?
« on: March 03, 2013, 11:33:00 PM »
Just to gauge the interest of forum members w.r.t. the Enlightenment E17 desktop.

Are you interested in or are you running Enlightenment E17 desktop currently?
How much do you know about it?
Are you willing to install and test and report any early experimental packages?
Packaging well will cure headaches of many :) But learning to package will cause headaches in many :(

DISCLAIMER 1 - I know very little about packaging. This is my blind foray to learn by doing. So the quality of packages will be very suspect in-spite of great help from more knowledgeable friends.
DISCLAIMER 2 - I know very little about Enlightenment. So I am looking for someone who can tell me what is wrong.

Thanks for the help. I will update the few packages that I have already done and post you a link here.

1. Not really interested and not running it presently, nor have I it installed.

2. Not a whole lot ....  I tried it years ago but never stayed with it long enough to get into it.

3. Sure, no problem with installing it and trying it, if my feedback is of any use - considering my lack of knowledge about what it should be able to do.

It'd be nice.I like E17 too but never stayed in too long because of the bugs.
It seems E17 need some hard enough mantainence...
Is it the 64 bit or the 32 bit?
Wouldn't be better to post this topis in the E17 section?

Testing packages needs to be discussed in testing section (Developers Corner).
Not in the help sections like MiniMe/E17/Openbox.

These packages are NOT official PCLinuxOS packages. The Enlightenment section is for official support. Hence I am not posting there.

Install ONLY on spare guinea pig partitions (please do not use actual guinea pigs) ;)

Kindly report what appears to work and what does not from an Enlightenment user's viewpoint.

Known issues to look out for are given in the first post of the above thread. Mainly
- do you get Enlightenment or E17 as a desktop session choice at the login screen after installation and reboot?
- do you get segfault errors while logging in or logging out and if you do can you recover / safely logout?
