Artificial Sweeteners in Milk?
« on: March 01, 2013, 01:32:35 PM »
Got diet milk? In a highly controversial move, the dairy industry wants to market artificially sweetened milk—without any special label to alert consumers.

In a petition filed with the FDA, the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) and the National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) seek to change the definition of “milk” so that chemical sweeteners like aspartame and sucralose can be used as optional ingredients not listed on the product label.

What is wrong with these idiots ???  So much for a healthy drink of milk!  Don't we already add enough sugar to the products we use or consume?

Whole milk is one of the pleasures of my life. If they screw with that, then...well I just don't know.

Be assured though that true milk will be available but now it will demand a huge  premium. After all it is "REAL" milk.
There is a 5th dimension, beyond that which is known to man.It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity, between science& superstition,& it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call PCLINUXOS!

same here until i became lactose intolerant and also the diet

i use fat and lactose milk, some brands seems to be sweeter than others, this explains that

after all, a milk without the fat, the lactose and who know has been removed is basically white water, and i pay for that  :-X

Joe, I feel exactly the same way as you do.....  I love drinking ice cold milk.  Just what we need to give our kids, more artificial sweeteners.

Are you certain? Can you even now get unpasteurised milk where you live. Or more importantly: unhomogenised milk?

(Personally I hate milk. I only consume it when it's been transmogrified into cheese. And I love cheese.)

Googling Aspartame on YouTube yields hours of fun entertainment, like this one:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCoBuTr0Or0

I'm one of the chemically sensitive crowd that can't tolerate any exposure to many food chemicals like chocolate, caffeine, ginger and many drugs. They cause mood disorder effects not limited to depression, hypomania, confusion, disturbed dreams, social anxiety etc. Without exposure I'm pretty darn normal. With exposure I am almost immediately disabled, and legally was for many years before I figured it out.

I've always avoided Aspartame as a matter of course, but from my web research it's very likely it is in the same category. Not having foods labelled with it would be extremely hazardous for people like me.

so many myths about aspartame

the biggest one is that makes people angry and violent

that would explain my behavior perfectly, the problem is that i only used it for 3 or 4 years, need to explain the other 30  ;D

Considering how it's not necessary I'd say Aspartame represents an unjustified risk.

I suppose the most telling argument for me was the report that industry sponsored research was universally favorable and independent research was general negative on the product.

Whole milk, at least in the US, is milk with a 3.2% butterfat content.
