*Solved* Changed keyboard from US International to US, unable to login!

While installing Pclos lxde and setting up my user and root passwords and not realizing the US International Keyboard was selected, one of the modifier keys was used in the password. Now after restarting my computer with US Keyboard setup I am unable to login as I get and incorrect password error. 

How can I get back into my system and straighten things out so that I am able to login with the US Keyboard setting or do I have to reinstall?
Please help! 

Edit: This is an Asus Eee PC 1005HAB netbook, not a laptop.

Just a thought.. is this that "caps lock" thing?

I had a keyboard that always booted into "caps lock" and I had to remember to unlock caps before my password would work.

If this is not the case,, ignore me.

No, it couldn't be that simple 

I was able to determine the character that is being created on the US International Keyboard is a Superscript 9
.
Hopefully if I figure out how to create the Superscript 9 on the US Keyboard I'll be able to login and change
my password

Don't know if this will help (I use KDE, not LXDE), but it may be worth a try.  Boot to safe mode. This should bypass the need to enter a password.  Type PCC <enter>.  Select keyboard. Choose OK.  Select US international. OK. exit. Reboot. Enter password at login. Change your password to something simple. Now choose your actual keyboard. After your next reboot, change your password to something more secure that is found on your keyboard layout.

If this works, you've averted a major headache.  If not, you've only lost a very few minutes.
