Cannot get volume.fstype.alternative seems to be related to LXDE.  I have a machine that has KDE install with task-LXDE overlay.  I can mount my usb flash drive in KDE session, but not in any LXDE session.  I have tried the solutions listed in other threads: http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,113531.0.html, http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,113509.0.html, http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,113474.0.html.  Any suggestions?  ???

Maybe PCManFM issue?

Update: Opened Dolphin inside of LXDE, and was able to mount removable drive, although it complained at first (Location Empty).  Then went to PCManFM and was able to view mounted drive and files.   ???  ???

Daniel, Any Suggestions?

Thanks JohnW, I'll stand by patiently...

Update: I went ahead and applied the solution found here:http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,113474.msg969378.html#msg969378, and am now able to mount external drives.  Marking this one as solved, at least for me.
