I still get the error and it still boots to the terminal login. O'well. Thats ok. I'm done with this thing for now.  My new HW has arrived and I can deal with it for now until I'm done building my new PC .

This has been a good learning experience so it was not a waste at all; thanks OP and everyone else.

Who knows, maybe I'll keep trying when I get bored...
