trying to get e-Sword working under wine in 64 bit install
« on: February 21, 2013, 07:52:08 AM »
Hi all,

I'm trying to get e-Sword to work under wine in a 64 bit install and need the 32bit libraries I can't find them in the 64 bit repositories.
Can some one point me to the right source so I can install the lib32 bit libraries?
Thanks ,
Dave

No, sorry.  There are two PCLOS packages which may provided what you want: bibletime, sword.

Thanks for the reply ternor,

I already have xiphos installed it's similar to bibletime.  But need e-sword I use it evey day..

It works in the 32 bit install was just trying to upgrade to the 64 bit which otherwise was running very well on this machine.

I agree that E-Sword is super.
I haven't run it for awhile, and not yet tried to install it in 64bit.
I have an defunct 32bit install with the /.wine/drive_c/Program Files/e-Sword/
folder intact. Can you use any files found there?
I would be interested to return E-Sword to my 64bit install.

Thanks for the offer johnmart,

But no the problem is e-sword is a 32 bit program in windows and will need the 32 bit libraries which most of the other distros offer in the 64 bit repositories it will most likely take time for the 64 bit PCLinux Os to incorporate them in 64 bit versions.  They will be needed by anyone who want to run a 32 bit program under wine.  I'll just have to wait.  I think the Development team has done a great job on the 64 bit version and it does run very nicely on this box.
Cheers!

The 64-bit wine includes a wine-wow64 package which is supposed to include all the 32-bit libs wine needs to run 32-bit windows programs. If that's not true something is wrong.

Which 32-bit libraries does e-Sword complain are missing?

it does not complain just won't run, even if I try to launch in in a terminal it just crashes on the 64 bit install.
I saw the package and installed it you were talking about to to no avail.  So I'm not sure what's wrong at this point.

Try opening it in a terminal to see any error messages.
