I will write a couple of words that (hopefully) will get you to the PCLinuxOS philosophy...

PCLinuxOS is not a "bleeding edge" distro and never claimed to be.
It doesn't always go for the "latest and greatest".
If this is what you're looking for, you should look elsewhere.

PCLinuxOS aims mostly on stability and quality packaging.
It's one of the things that make it so great.
While latest versions are offered on many key applications, this is not a general rule.
But a general rule is: "It will be ready when it's ready" :)

Our team of packagers is limited in number and is made of people who sacrifice their personal time for this distro.
They always surpass themselves.
They work hard to provide an operating system which is as stable as can be.
Supporting them, is a group of testers who thoroughly test all packages before they go to public servers.

So, I guess I've more or less answered your question.
Our packagers are working hard right now to complete the 64bit version.
Not only that, they have to ensure that the existing version will keep "rolling" smoothly.
Too much work for too few people.

Just be patient and enjoy this distro... Patience is a virtue... :)
For the whole world, you are someone.
For someone, you are the whole world.

One way to catchup is to download all the magazines ( from the first to the last )
and read them.

This way you can see how the magazine and the OS progressed to it's great state.
