george, are you asking us for a package request or are you saying that your web browser gave you problems?

it seems that you are doing two things wrong in the wrong section of the forum

PCLinuxOS is still on the Java 6 series (1.6.0_xx)

Seems the  Java 7 series  still have  a lot of issues (exploits, ect...).

Maybe so, but Java 6 becomes unmaintained in a week's time, so after that the exploits will just build up if we don't go to 7.

george, are you asking us for a package request or are you saying that your web browser gave you problems?

it seems that you are doing two things wrong in the wrong section of the forum

1. I'm requesting an updated java package, if it's available.

2. The browser isn't giving me trouble, but the plugin page said my java was outdated.
Go here (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/) and see that java, quicktime, and mozplayer are all outdated.

Additionally, if you don't need the Java Plugin in Firefox the safest bet is to disable it. I get along quite well without it. In fact I get along without having Java installed at all.

The following post from Brian Krebs blog is worth a read

I think I will drop java since it doesn't seem to be needed very much,
and it's a security risk.

Is there not a plugin for FF that gives you an icon which toggles Java on and off as you require it?

Yes there is such a plugin, but I can't recall its name...  ???
You can turn java and j.script on or off with a click.
