PCLOS KDE 64 bit RC1 WINE locks up system in full screen.
« on: February 17, 2013, 08:12:54 AM »
Hi,
I have been having trouble with WINE and Play On Linux in full screen to run some old games that worked fine on 32 bit PCLOS.
Windowed mode works ok but starting in full screen will lock up the system with a black screen. Alt+Tab and Ctrl+Esc both don't work so the computer needs to be rebooted.

sorry, couldn't replicate, what i discovered is that is loosing focus so i have to go back to desktop and then return to the game, especially when changing resolutions, otherwise the game works perfectly

could it be driver related?

also remember that rc1 is not a final version, this section is for 32 bit stable released version afik

I only commented here as I could not make a new topic in testing.
I am using proprietary ATI GPU drivers for my "Manhattan" Redeon GPU.

Interestingly I can't get PCC to show  3d acceleration, but the ATI Catylist Control Centre works, even if PCC shows 3D as "no".

From the RC1 release announcement:

The RC will be fully supported, just as the present official 32 bit releases are, and we invite all constructive feed back, both positive and negative, so that we can polish everything up for the official release.

I missed that 'fully supported' bit on release.

Which raises the question .....  what section handles 64 bit support questions?

It doesn't appear as if a special section has been created for it ......  or have I missed that too?   :(

there is a post with the announcement, it is a bit big now but is serving that purpose, pinoc is replying to most things reported there

Thanks.

Not ideal ....  no separation of problems/solutions .....  just a running commentary in Announcements.

Not, IMO, 'full support' .......  not that I expected 'full support' for a release candidate!

I know there's a lot of feedback in the announcement thread, but I take "fully supported, just as the present official 32 bit releases are" to mean we can post in any relevant section of the forum, just as we do for 32-bit.

What else could "fully" and "just as the present.. releases are" mean?

The difficulty with such an idea is the mixing of 32 & 64 bit threads.

It would create more confusion than problems it would solve.

Even the testing section can sometimes get mixed up ..... and the only people posting there are supposed to know what they are doing  ;)

I respectfully disagree; a 64 bit only section would help, I would post there if I could.
Posting on the announcement thread is not ideal as it is off topic, makes tracking issues difficult and questions can get lost. A big sticky at the top of the forum section saying some thing to the effect of "THIS IS A 64 BIT ONLY SECTION OF THE FORUM - PLEASE ONLY POST THINGS TO DO WITH THE 64-BIT VERSION OF PCLOS!" should be sufficient.
