Shall we start the process of getting this into wider testing? If you make one final release with this last commit included.

what "last commit" are you speaking of? the request to have a GUI way to set the application to autostart at login is already included in version 1.3.0

I was offered an upgrade to 1.3 today and it wanted to bring in update-notifier ......  so it appears that the fixed package never made it to the repo.

This issue is only on 32 bit.
On 64 bit is qt-update-notifier not depended on update-notifier.  ???
