SRPM in the repo
« on: April 05, 2013, 04:25:48 AM »
I am not very sure how the various packages are loaded to our repo. Is it a manual process where each file is selected and uploaded or a semi-automatic one where all the files in Neal's local directory get uploaded following some queue system like DropBox synchronization?

Sometimes I would be looking for the updated .spec of a freshly updated package in our repo and it is not there.

For eg. now I am looking at the Nluug mirror and qBittorrent SRPM there is of 2.9.2 vintage while our present is 3.0.9.

-----

In this specific case, I have been doing builds of qBittorrent since around 3.0 but curiously an icon for Add Torrent was always missing.

I am curious to see who has successfully built this version in our repo and how was this solved?
Packaging well will cure headaches of many :) But learning to package will cause headaches in many :(

Hmmm... at least the curiosity is satisfied. Now I know that it was indeed a bug in the code and not build that caused it.
The changelog for 3.0.9 gave the clue.

There is currently a backlog of SRPMS waiting to be uploaded to the public mirrors.
The SRPMs are low priority (compared with RPMs).  If you desperately  need a particular SRPM then ask.

Terry.

Not at the moment. It would be quite useful to know who did the packaging though later on.

Unfortunately for me I keep fiddling with some package for a long time and suddenly Bam! it would have landed in the repo solved easily by someone else. And I am really curious of how was the problem solved and who did it.
Ref: 97-bluetooth rules and how you solved it and I did not know that.

you are absolutely right with your comment. We are currently working on resolving this problem, the srpms should be uploaded sometime soon after some other urgent technical issues have been resolved.
Please contact me if you need any uptodate srpm.

thanks for your understanding and patience.  :)

Thanks. Will just wait then. It is better to leave you alone to work on more important things than bug you about a thing that is specific to me. I know you will get around to it eventually :)
