I believe the teacher either has a sense of humor and thinks that is a pertinent quality under the syllabus, or a good 'life skill', and shows good reasoning ability, thus giving the kid an, "A- Good job".
Somehow I lean towards the teacher not reading the report, and being hamstrung realising the kid will never write cursive properly.

I actually had the teacher's yard-stick rapped on my head more than once for using my left hand to write (like.. if you aren't right-handed, we have no use for you).

Yes, my father (R.I.P.) was born in 1930, being left handed meant he was 'spawned from the devil' and was hit with a cane till he could write right handed. Thank God that things have changed.

Nowadays without any physical punishment in (Australian) schools, when you've played up kids do get away with anything and everything, with little punishment.

I agree it is good to teach kids to not tolerate bullying; I kind of figured whenever I told my son off he thought he was a victim of bullying in the way he reacted. I had to educate him that I wasn't being a bully, but was frustrated with him, and trying to change his attitude to one thing or another. He's now 19 and has problems being told, but is a lot better than when he was in school.

It is an Art educating children, teachers are our most precious commodity.

I had to wright a check about 4 months ago and found that I had forgotten how to properly fill out all the required info. or at least, I had to think about it for a bit. LOL

Since this thread relates to correction of written works >

I'm a little unsure of what is meant by this sentence.  Did the check require repairs or some act of construction?
I had to write a cheque .....  but then I'm in Australia ......  ;)   ;D ;D

THEN and THAN usage..
Use than to make a comparison. Use then when referring to time.

What?

I agree with the Aussie  ;)

You can write a check (mark, as in grocery list)
You can write a cheque (which someone will cash, and take money from you)
Can you right a check (maybe lefties go the "other way"...or, maybe it was wrong, to start with...  ::)).

But I wonder, did the Wright brothers write a cheque for someone to check the right things (before they flew)?

You guys have too much fun with my grammar.

I blame "spell checker" for it. I am so worried that the word is spelled correctly, I pay little attention to whether or not it is the correct word.  :P

Fun is Fun,, lets all have some.  ;D ;D ;D

I swear sometimes I spell words so wrong that spell checker can't even guess what I am trying to spell! LOL

I retired from teaching a coupla years ago. I remember reading the perfect answer once - think it was in Reader's Digest, hope I don't get arrested for plagiarism. It went something like this:

Q. Explain how you would measure the height of a building using an aneroid barometer.
A. I would lower the barometer on a piece of string and measure the string.

The student would have got an A- from me (the question didn't specify using string).

With handwriting THAT poor, this kid is destined to be a physician!  :o :o :o

You should see physician handwriting. It's soooooooo bad, I swear they must have special physician handwriting classes that they are required to take twice to make it that bad. At least this kid's handwriting is still legible. But, I also have no doubt that with a little work, he could still have handwriting as illegible as a physician's.

What always tripped me out was the fact that a pharmacist could actually read a physician's prescription note.

They use abbreviations and symbols. They will have a couple of letters or numbers that can be read,
and the rest is just jibberish. My wife who's a nurse can read it because doctor's orders are just as
illegible as scripts, but she knows the code.  ;D

+1 ... I've learned to read them, having worked in the hospital for 25 years. Knowing the "code" makes all the difference.

But, sometimes, even the pharmacist gets tripped up. What you don't see is him/her on the phone behind the counter, calling the physician for the key to the code ... or just asking the physician what exactly they were prescribing.

Plus using Latin, a dead language, probably doesn't help. I've noticed the chemist will just write the general dosage instructions of the drug, if in doubt, if specific they have to ring the Doctor.

A lot of Dr.'s use a print out scipt nowadays, takes the handwriting out of the equation. Waiting for them to type it up can take awhile using one finger though.  :D

My doc doesn't even write scripts usually. He just calls the pharmacy and it's ready when I get there. ;)
