Try this:

Download this file and copy it (as root) to /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor
Make sure the permissions are correct:
Code: [Select]
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root   501 Feb 28  2011 10-ntfs-3g-policy.fdi
Then restart haldaemon (or reboot)
See if that fixes it.

This is really broken and a big problem for many. Can we just downgrade as an emergency fix?

Where can I put a thousand Thank You for TerryN?

Thank you, that fixed it    ;D

Edit.

BTW I copied and pasted the line as root and just got a line that said that didn't find the instruction   ::)

Couldn't care less as long as it works   ;)

It is on PASS, but if you don't use it, I suppose this comment is not much use ... I have updated this morning and all is (seems?) well.

It used to be that such updates which corrected broken packages etc went to the public mirrors at the same time ......  has this changed?
