A possible solution well it worked for me.......

I always reload, mark all upgrades, apply, apply
Always fully updated, KDE 32 bit
Ive been with this distribution since just after it started, learnt my lessons  ;D  ;D

A few minutes ago I did another update etc and got the same unresolved dependencies

digikam:
 Depends: kipi-plugins
 Depends: libdigikamcore.so.3
 Depends: libdigikamdatabase.so.3
 Depends: libkdcraw.so.22
 Depends: libkipi.so.10

Also there were two that wouldn't upgrade - libkface & opencv

the missing dependencies were
libkface:
 Depends: libopencv_calib3d.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_contrib.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_core.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_features2d.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_flann.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_highgui.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_imgproc.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_legacy.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_ml.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_nonfree.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_objdetect.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_photo.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_stitching.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_ts.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_video.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_videostab.so.2.4

and when it came to opencv it required openshot and frei0r-plugins to be uninstalled so I did and now Digikam 3.0.0 is installed

...and neither is installed here, but digikam installed without a problem.

@ beta1:  I can confirm this worked for me too.  THANKS!!!

Removed openshot and frei0r-plugins.  Then let libkface and opencv install as they were "held back" before.  Then installed digiKam.  I need digiKam, openshot not so much.

Apparently digiKam and openshot don't play well together.

I'll mark this "solved".  DigiKam now works for me.  The openshot-digiKam conflict is another issue for another thread.

Last update from PASS solved the digikam, openshot and some other problems ;)
Only left gqview, unmet dependecies:

Same here, and it also wanted to remove pitivi. I'm still holding the upgrade, hoping someone will resolve the conflicts.

Bye

I just tried for an update and it wants to remove digikam and the kipi plugins, is this correct? I checked and they are not marked to be re-installed. Is this something that I should wait for a fix for? Thanks for any info.l

so what do the one's of us that need "open shot" do to resolve this. like some others, I am using the nlug mirror and no matter how much I "update, apply, apply" it still wants to remove digikam, and so does the heanet mirror. :(

I have not done any Synaptic upgrades since last week, when I first noticed that it wanted
to uninstall Digikam and kipi, with no replacement package.  I have been following the talk
here, and tried lots of repos, but all showed the same problem.

Today I decided to try beta1's solution, or removing the problem packages first.
So I did an uninstall of just openshot, and then mark all upgrades.

Yeah!!!!

It now shows
To be removed:
   frei0r-plugins
   gqview
ntfsprogs          (Hmmm... I wonder why that is going away?)
   zlib1-devel
To be upgraded:
   ...
   digikam
   digikam-libs
   ...
   kipi-plugins
   ...

Now, to press Apply-Apply...

Downloading 182 files... I'll be back later to report,
Shimon

YES!! Synaptic upgraded a zillion packages, and I do now have Digikam 3.0.0

The one strange thing I already noticed was that in Digikam's Help menu item,
when I click on About Digikam, along with other info it says:

>>>
Build date: Feb 11 2013 (target: Release)
Rev.: fatal: Not a git repository: '/home/pinoc32/src/rpm/BUILD/digikam-3.0.0/core/.git'
<<<

Fatal??  And does that mean *our* 'pinoc'?

that is perfectly normal, you see that because this is me, pinoc32 on my 32bit virtual machine, on which I have compiled KDE 4.9.5 plus development packages etc in order to package KDE 4.9.5, DigiKam, etc  for PCLinuxOS. You will see the same thing for 64bit, for the same reason just that the user there is called pinoc64. Having different user names is just a quick reminder for myself to know in which virtual machine I am right now, this way I can work/compile in several VMs simultaneously.
So, in short, nothing to worry about. Btw, the Build date indicates the time when the package was build (in this case for PCLinuxOS of course).

-p.
