Digikam 3.0 won't install (SOLVED, mostly!)
« on: February 17, 2013, 01:18:04 PM »
I had Digikam 2.9.X working well here after the September 2012 post about removing phonon-vlc to get Digikam installed.  My desktop runs a full updated KDE install.  Today I read about Digikam 3.0 being available.  I ran Synaptic and it picked up Digikam for update.  When I executed the update it REMOVED Digikam 2.9.X from my system and left two items for update which will not install for some reason.  (libkface and opencv)

If I select Digikam 3.0 in Synaptic to install it gives me the following error output:

X  Could not mark all packages for installation or upgrade.
The following packages have unresolvable dependencies.
Make sure that all required repositories are added and enabled in the preferences.

digikam
 Depends: kipi-plugins
 Depends: libdigikamcore.so.3
 Depends: libdigikamdatabase.so.3
 Depends: libkdcraw.so.22
 Depends: libkipi.so.10

Any ideas?  Should I try a different repository?

I updated Digikam yesterday and experienced no problems. You could try a different repo, I'm using the nluug mirror. Mine is KDE 4.9.5 fully updated 32 bit.

I am also using the nlug mirror and it doesn't show Digikam 3.0
If I go ahead with the upgrade then Synaptic will remove Digikam 2.9.5 and the kipiplugins etc, so it sort of seems like being caught between a rock and a hard place   ;D

So I am not upgrading anything for now until either inspiration hits or sage advice from those in the know arrives on the scene.

Just upgraded, less than an hour ago, from nluug mirror;

So I went ahead and upgraded then DigiKam 2.9.0 was duly removed.
I then did a search for Digikam and it came up as version 3.0 but cannot upgrade to 3.0 because of unresolved dependancies.............

digikam:
 Depends: kipi-plugins
 Depends: libdigikamcore.so.3
 Depends: libdigikamdatabase.so.3
 Depends: libkdcraw.so.22
 Depends: libkipi.so.10

Just out of curiosity I tried installing kipi-plugins and promptly got a lot of other unresolved dependencies.....

So is there anything I can do to help resolve this?........ waiting for others to do something doesn't feel quite right

Did you click Reload first? Then Mark All Upgrades, Apply, and Apply again, from the confirmation window?

If you did the proper steps, in the proper order, then there's no way you could show different packages available than what the rest of us are seeing, using the same repo mirror.

from nluug:
unresolved dependencies:
kipi-plugins:
 Afhankelijk: kipi-plugins-libs (= 3.0.0-1pclos2013)
 Afhankelijk: libkdcraw.so.22
 Afhankelijk: libkipiplugins.so.3
 Afhankelijk: libkipi.so.10
 Afhankelijk: libopencv_core.so.2.4
 Afhankelijk: libopencv_highgui.so.2.4
 Afhankelijk: libopencv_imgproc.so.2.4
 Afhankelijk: libopencv_legacy.so.2.4
 Afhankelijk: libopencv_objdetect.so.2.4

from PASS:
kipi-plugins:
 Afhankelijk: kipi-plugins-libs (= 3.0.0-1pclos2013)
 Afhankelijk: libkdcraw.so.22
 Afhankelijk: libkipiplugins.so.3
 Afhankelijk: libkipi.so.10
 Afhankelijk: libopencv_core.so.2.4
 Afhankelijk: libopencv_highgui.so.2.4
 Afhankelijk: libopencv_imgproc.so.2.4
 Afhankelijk: libopencv_legacy.so.2.4
 Afhankelijk: libopencv_objdetect.so.2.4

And yes, all reloaded.

Confirming the issue with kipi-plugins, using PASS:

Code: [Select]
kipi-plugins:
 Depends: kipi-plugins-libs (= 3.0.0-1pclos2013)
 Depends: hugin
 Depends: libkdcraw.so.22
 Depends: libkipiplugins.so.3
 Depends: libkipi.so.10
 Depends: libksane.so.0

I switched from heanet to nluug, reload, apply, apply.  Same two packages come up as uninstallable (in my original post) and when I mark digikam 3 for installation I still get the same warning about unresolved dependencies.  So the problem seems to be independent of which repository you use.  Strange.  My installation is almost box-stock except for normal updates.  I don't tinker much.

Oh...for the record.....KDE 32 bit, fully updated.

I can't reproduce it either....... using the same "spec" as Linuzoid (KDE 4.9.5 fully updated 32bit)

I had this problem with digicam and kipi yesterday, so I didn't upgrade, thinking that another day might correct the problem. I'm using the nluug server. A few minutes ago I did another reload and still the same problem. My system was fully upgraded until yesterday. Something is very strange that some people using nluug aren't having problems. What's missing?
Using Linux for over 18 years and still counting.

A possible solution well it worked for me.......

I always reload, mark all upgrades, apply, apply
Always fully updated, KDE 32 bit
Ive been with this distribution since just after it started, learnt my lessons  ;D  ;D

A few minutes ago I did another update etc and got the same unresolved dependencies

digikam:
 Depends: kipi-plugins
 Depends: libdigikamcore.so.3
 Depends: libdigikamdatabase.so.3
 Depends: libkdcraw.so.22
 Depends: libkipi.so.10

Also there were two that wouldn't upgrade - libkface & opencv

the missing dependencies were
libkface:
 Depends: libopencv_calib3d.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_contrib.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_core.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_features2d.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_flann.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_highgui.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_imgproc.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_legacy.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_ml.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_nonfree.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_objdetect.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_photo.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_stitching.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_ts.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_video.so.2.4
 Depends: libopencv_videostab.so.2.4

and when it came to opencv it required openshot and frei0r-plugins to be uninstalled so I did and now Digikam 3.0.0 is installed

There is always a way
