fm_setwidgets kills session
« on: February 22, 2013, 06:06:51 AM »
Hi,
I recently posted about a problem that happened when I tried to use fm_setwidgets,
here: http://www.pclinuxos.com/forum/index.php/topic,113369.msg967415.html

The problem has continued - every time I run fm_setwidgets, after I select
'unlock widgets', my screen goes black, and I lose all desktop entities except
actual open program windows. That is - I can get into e.g. existing open dolphin
or firefox windows (alt tab, ctl f1, to navigate) but cannot start anything new.
There is no task bar, no panels, no launcher menus etc. on the desktop, and
empty desktops are just black screens.

At the time I used a konsole to log out by killing my startkde, menotu mentioned
alt+ctl+backspace as an alternative method. Unfortunately, both of these
are logging me off!

Is fm_setwidgets intended to force me to a logoff? Shouldn't it start with
a warning about that? Something like:
"Welcome to fm_setwidgets. This procedure will force a logoff. Click OK to continue,
or cancel to exit".

Since I have seen no such warning, my impression is that the
behavior I see is actually not the planned or intended behavior of the program.
So... can someone help me fix it?

Thanks!!
Shimon
