Man am I happy to be using PCLOS again.
I tried Fedora for a while, I am not sure what their packagers are doing but they have had problems with their JACK package for years and it still isn't fixed. If something is broken they don't seem to care.
I was required to buy an Apple Mac Book Pro for my audio production degree. In the two years I have had it it has been in the shop 7 times; I am still waiting for it to come back. OS X is interesting; on one hand I learned more about UNIX type OS's but then I encountered the stupidity of some elements of it's design. For one Finder is not able to pause a file transfer either local or over a network, slow to update java, It is RAM hungry(4 GB and it is slow and freezes up with spinning beachball of doom) it is incompatible with many UNIX softwares, MacPorts is a nightmare. Worst of all is for every new thing they fixed on a Lion update it broke many other things, WIFI is unreliable, it changes massively between very minor version releases that also breaks compatibility with software which for a work computer is unacceptable plus because of the non standard UEFI I could not install Linux unless in virtual box.
They also seem to hate the user customising the look of OS X.
Really after using a mac, Microsoft Windows 7 does not look that bad!
So here I am with PCLOS KDE 64bit RC1. I like it, it has some bugs and needs some packages (I'd learn to package if I had the time!) but I can see it being a damn nice OS when it is finished. Good work guys!
