Interesting segment.

Curiously, I can watch the clip, but the full programme is not available outside the UK. However, I can watch the Click TV programme on my BBC world news channel (but I usually don't :) ). Aunty Beeb is still struggling to come to grips with this internet thingy.

BBC click should be available online to everyone but only after it is first broadcast in the UK. The first broadcast each week at 01;30 UK time on a Saturday morning but I watch the 11:30 showing later that morning. If you can receive the BBC World Service, which is mainly the BBC News channel, then Click should be on there. Check the Click website for schedule details.

No - Click (TV) is still "not available in my area". If I try to play the video from your link to the programme, it tells me that iPlayer programmes are only available in the UK. If I go to the "World News" site for Click (TV) then there is no link to the video.

The "World Service" afaik is radio only - there is a WS radio programme which (thanks to the BBC brains trust) is now called "Click". I have been listening to that programme since it was called "Go Digital" and while it was still called "Digital Planet". Thankfully, BBC radio is available no matter what your IP is, but we do get a reduced bandwidth version outside of the UK.

You will have to use a proxy.

The BBC are working on a project that will allow viewers outside the UK to watch iPlayer by subscription. This project is still in it's infancy and I don't know which countries will get the first role out.

Since Click is shown globally by the BBC so it should be viewable everywhere, unless there is some local copyright issues or where the BBC don't broadcast. I think this is a BBC iPlayer issue and i did notice that the click homepage has changed and Click is now made available through iPlayer in the UK. I have watched via the Click homepage directly if I missed an episode and iPlayer wasn't involved.

There is still Click on the radio which is also worth listening to.

According to your profile you are in Ireland - so either the Beeb's IP filters aren't fine enough, or they consider you "close enough".

I have VPN I could use if I wanted to. But the point is - why should I have to? I'm pretty sure I used to be able to watch Click online at one point. As someone else said - I think this is related to the fact that they have moved the programme to their iPlayer which is only available in the UK. But that begs the question - if Click (TV) can only be seen in the UK or on the BBC World News cable/satellite channel, what was the point of re-naming the WS radio programme?

Another gift from the BBC Brains trust... iPlayer International is up and running in the US and more recently in Canada (where I am) BUT: It is only available for the iPad and it's not even the same content that is available in the UK.

While I still dearly love Aunty Beeb (fond memories of listening to the Home Service) and am very grateful to be able to receive her streaming radio and podcasts - I find some of these internet related quirks rather frustrating.

BTW - I just noticed that we are in the Hardware Discussion forum and not The Sandbox. My apologies if I've gotten us into trouble.

Strange if that is the case .....  it would be a first.

We live in a world where copyright rules and this also applies to the BBC. UK residents have to pay for a yearly licence to receive TV broadcasts, on any platform and you wouldn't want to be entitled to a freebie when us poor UK residents have to fork out a queens ransom  ::) I think you are correct in saying this all began with the switch to the iPlayer, I guess the BBC IT mob didn't take into account content that they previously aired to all.

The renaming of the radio show was to bring both shows together as they compliment each other. maybe you should email Click and put forward your point.
