Synaptic Warnings
« on: February 17, 2013, 10:16:43 AM »
Hello:
After installing the latest updates in synaptic, I got the following warnings in synaptics:

While installing package hugin-2010.4.0-1pclos2011:

Error in file "/usr/share/applications/ggl-gtk.desktop": "app/gg" is an invalid
MIME type ("app" is an unregistered media type)
Error in file "/usr/share/applications/ggl-qt.desktop": "app/gg" is an invalid
MIME type ("app" is an unregistered media type)

While installing package bluez-4.101-5pclos2013:

gtk-update-icon-cache: No theme index file.

Are these any thing of serious nature?
Thanks!

The hugin error is not critical, but could be fixed in the spec file. The error for bluez is common in many packages. I've not investigated, there could be a reference to gtk-update-icon-cache in the spec files. But, I think it is more likely that it is in the rpm scripts. It hasn't received any attention, I believe, because it doesn't cause any problems. I agree that it would be nice to eliminate false errors, though.

Thanks!
But, what and where is the spec file? And how could it be fixed?

The spec file is in the src.rpm, which is what packagers work with to create a program. So, to fix it a packager would have to rebuild it.
