XMLTV-GUI
« on: March 10, 2013, 08:37:04 AM »
I installed this package recently (32 bit) .....  but cannot find anything related to run.

Anyone any idea what I should be looking for?

I found reference to running    ./XmltvGUI/Grab  from a command line, but the command is not recognised.

What am I missing?

Summary     : Graphical frontends to xmltv
Description :
XMLTV is a set of utilities to manage your TV viewing. They work with
TV listings stored in the XMLTV format, which is based on XML. The
idea is to separate out the backend (getting the listings) from the
frontend (displaying them for the user), and to implement useful
operations like picking out your favourite programmes as filters that
read and write XML documents.

This package contains graphical frontends to xmltv.
/usr/bin/tv_check
/usr/share/man/man1/tv_check.1.bz2

You have to look of tv_check

Thank you ........  unfortunately this is what I see ........

Code: [Select]
$ tv_check
Can't locate Tk/TableMatrix.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.1/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.1 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.1/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.1 /usr/lib/perl5/5.10.1/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.10.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl .) at /usr/bin/tv_check line 82.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/bin/tv_check line 82.

or this from a different PC

Code: [Select]
$ tv_check
Can't locate XMLTV/Version.pm in @INC (@INC contains: /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.1/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.10.1 /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.1/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.1 /usr/lib/perl5/5.10.1/i386-linux-thread-multi /usr/lib/perl5/5.10.1 /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl /usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl .) at /usr/bin/tv_check line 79.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/bin/tv_check line 79.

I get the  same results when using

tv_scan --help

EDIT:
It appears  xmltv  itself is not functioning.
I tried a wee app (called freeguide) that uses xmltv to get channel listing and it fails to get anything giving an error that xmltv errored out.
:(

NP  ;)

It seems (see edit above) that xmltv is not functioning properly.

I will look at that tomorrow if I get a chance.

Thanks for the help.

OK,  none of the tv_*** commands would work.

Apparently the list of packages provided by  perl-xmltv  is incomplete.

I would ask for a rebuild to include the missing packages I have found so far .......

Code: [Select]
Missing were:
perl-Archive-Zip (1.30-10pclos2009)
perl-DateTime-Format-Strptime (1.1000-10pclos2009)
perl-Tk-TableMatrix (1.23-10pclos2009)
perl-IO-stringy (2.110-10pclos2009)
perl-HTTP-Cache-Transparent (1.0-10pclos2009)

With those installed all the tv_* commands began to work.

I have  xmltv-gui installed, and reinstalled.

From the info above the package name should be  xmltv-gui ....  ?

The only file I can find on this install that relates to XMLTV and GUI is the following

/usr/lib/perl5/vendor_perl/5.10.1/XMLTV/GUI.pm

I suppose there will be no GUI in any case until I have populated a file to display.

Tomorrow maybe ....

In the meantime if the changes to the perl-xmltv could be made it would be useful.
I also wondered if there should be a dependency between xmltv and perl-xmltv?

From what I have experienced xmltv can do nothing without the perl modules.
