Firefox does not launch
« on: February 13, 2013, 05:51:00 PM »
I installed PCLinuxOS 2013.02 KDE to my brother's notebook computer. All is working well, but Firefox does not launch.   It gives me an error in Konsole, "Could not create gnome accelerators directory. Permission denied."

H left and has the notebook with him.  Chromium works. I'll have to use TeamViewer7 in order to correct.

This seem to be a common problem for some peaople

Thanks.:) I used the solution and it worked. Instead of changing permissions of the .gnome directory, I changed them on the .gnome2 direcotry thinking it's the same thing.  There wasn't any .gnome directory.

you should investigate why you keep getting this problem.
Its probably because you are not properly running a gnome application. The application runs with root's privileges but uses some of your normal user environmental variables and it ends up changing permissions to root's permissions in your home directory

Different system.  My brother's.  Complete fresh install to both root and home partitions.  So, nothing done on my part other than install and update.  Happened immediately after install.

I updated the system as per the PCLinuxOS instructions.  Open/launch Synaptic from menu, reload to sync for current packages, mark all updates, apply.
